25th: Arrive in Bangkok - Suvarnabhumi Airport
by Swiss International Airlines at 10:45PM
(1N in Baiyoke Sky Hotel)
Take limousine Airport Taxi 1100 Baht to Baiyoke Sky Hotel - The tallest hotel in Bangkok (88-storeys), stay in Deluxe Sky 58th storey. My advise is to take normal taxi-meter (around 500-600 Baht) or to save more money may use the airport bus 150 Baht to designated location.
26th: Bangkok
(1N in Centre Point Wireless Road Hotel)
In the next morning, get breakfast in the 76th storey with nice view of Bangkok.
Take a city tour 500 Baht to the two temples:
* Wat Pho (Temple of Reclining Budha)
* Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple)
* Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) - underconstruction
Why it is cheap? Because it's sponsored by Gems and Silk store which make you to visit the stores and who knows you want to spend money there.
Later, we stay in a serviced apartment - Centre Point Wireless Road, which Yuli likes it so much because it's a studio room with kitchen and nice bathup. The apartment is also close to Ploencit BTS train station which allow us to try the Bangkok MRT. But it's totally different with what we usually experienced in KL and Singapore; you need to change notes with the coin in the counter and back to ticket machine for self-service.
We try to check to the Chinatown in Hua Lamphong MRT station and continue to Lumphini MRT station which is the location of Suan Lum Night Bazaar. This is the best place for night shopping where you can bargain the clothes with price which considered cheap compared to Singapore. And from there, we decide to try the local transport called 'Tuk-Tuk', the driver will charge you high if you don't bargain it (please do so). This vehicle is driven very fast and for sure faster than 'Bajaj - Jakarta local transport', but it's fun to experience it.
27th: in Pattaya
(1N in Best Western Pattaya Hotel)
The next morning we take BTS train from Ploencit to Ekamai - the Bus terminal station to Pattaya, it costs you 113 Baht/person and depart every 1hour. From there, we can see that the ticket counters sell tickets for different destination so no need to worry for salesman come to you and ask 'where are you going?'
The journey will take 2 hours to arrive in Pattaya bus terminal station. From there, the free tourist guide will help you to find map and any local tours if you are not sure where to go. The local transport there is called 'Songthaew' which is actually a pickup car, here you need to bargain again because Thailand people will charge you more for tourists same like in Indonesia, the easier bargain is to ask cheaper 30-50% from the original price.
Arrive in the hotel, the reception guy ask me for 'Pacepot' (sounds like that), and I reply with 'speak English please'. But this guy keep saying 'Pacepot' until I and Yuli find out if he wants Passport, looks like he already speak English before..hahaha.
28th: in Jomtien
(1N in Best Western Pattaya Hotel)
In the 2nd day, we plan to see the Budha hill in Jomtien area. The taxi driver ask for 250 Bath one way trip which is very expensive. After thinking a while, finally renting a motor is the best idea to explore Jomtien beach, south of Pattaya. We get the price 300 Bath one day rent and it's very cheap compare to the other transports. And it's amazing I have a wife who can drive any type of vehicles, so she is my motor driver :) and I'm the navigator.
Along the way to Bukit hill, we stop at the Seaworld, then Tesco Hypermarket and eat in the foodcourt, continue with the Warner Bros shop and last one Factory Outlet which sell discount Esprit - the only Esprit shop that give discount so far my wife has ever seen. Finally stop at Khao Phratamnuk Viewpoint where you are in the highest tower to see over Pattaya. Because it's closed at 7.00pm, we have to take the buffee dinner just to enjoy the view. At 10.00pm, we go back to the hotel and it's not too worry with the transport since I have a motor and a pretty driver :) thanks Yuli
29th: in Bangkok
(1N in Ramada DMA Bangkok Hotel)
Wake up and continue with the breakfast, we go straight to the Bus terminal to have journey back to Bangkok. In the afternoon, we check-in in the Ramada Hotel which near to Pratunam market.
After unpack all the stuff, we continue to see around and this time we found a crowd of people queueing the motor boat. Then we also try it although the canal is dirty and stink. Actually the routes cross the city so it's convenient for some working people who use the boat to going back home. The boat is covered by shelters left and right side because the water will jump to you. It's fun but scarry for the first time.
30th: in Bangkok
(1N in Amari Atrium Hotel)
This 4 Stars Hotel has clean and tidy room which make u comfort to stay. When we just went out from the Hotel, a city man approach us to take us to Golden Palace - the biggest Budha temple and King residence. With the offer 'you help me I help you', finally we use this driver.
Arrive in Golden Palace with so crowd of people and admission fee 700 Bath, we manage to go in after some uniform checking stop us and Yuli has to buy a long pant for me. But we lucky to see the Emerald Budha which is the main interesting view for people go to Golden Palace. The King residences and Budha temples have also impress us with very beautiful exterior design.
It's not easy to get a taxi outside the Palace. Even you can get one, the taxi fare is still expensive where the Palace is outside of Bangkok city. We return to the hotel with 230 Bath, it's consider expensive because using of the highway.
In the evening, we go along Silom area which has Siam Paragon Mall, MBK and Tokyu. We straight go to the food centre to try what people always say about delicious food in Bangkok. We manage to order a meatball tom yam soup which you can add the green noodle that we've never seen before. My wife order a cup of Thailand tea and it is more tasty, more sweet than Hongkong Tea, but I like it very much. Continue with the hypermarket offering variety of food and making you want to try them all. So good, we agree if you want to try kind of food in Bangkok, don't miss this place.
After bought chili bottles - our favourite ingredient, we continue with eating seafood near to the hotel. This place is very expensive although the kangkung is amazing for me. No more to say after eating, we look for night market which is Pratunam just in front of Baiyoke Sky Hotel which we had stayed there before. Here has not many things to buy, spend your time here in the morning instead of night.
31st: Back to Singapore, Changi Airport
by Swiss International Airlines at 4:20PM
In the last day, we hire the city man again to bring us to Floating Market which is 2hours driving from Bangkok city. This place is far and expensive for hiring a taxi, so better use a tour package. The expensive part is also with the boat, since it's operated by different boat owners then the price is various too. We manage to get the one considered fair price - 500 Baht and it uses a machine to run this boat. Along the way, so many people sell stuffs on the boat or so called boat shops. You might want to bargain again since each of them sell almost the same stuffs.
The journey has continued with the weekend market - Chatuchak, use MRT and stop at Kamphaeng Phet station. It is so huge with 15,000 stalls offering kind of clothes, pets, and accesories. It's very hot if you walk outside the stalls. This place is superb as a shopping place. Even the local people is around you too.
The time is too short and make us leaving the place soon to go back to Hotel and check-out. The last day seems pretty hard for us to end the honeymoon. But I think we have enjoyed a good time in Thailand and seen many new things, places and stuffs like people always talk about them.
Khop-Kun Thailand.. lar-korn!!
