1st - 30th Christmas 2008
Since we can't wait to eat Indonesian food then the best thing to do is eating. In Nagoya, you will easily meet the food u have been 'ngidaming' such as: siomay, batagor, bakso, nasi padang, pempek, model, es kacang, nasi bebek, etc. It's so temptation to order all kind of food that we saw which we used to eat. That's why I like SEAFOOD - what you SEA (read 'SEE') is FOOD.
The other thing is shopping. Here is a right place to buy all our bathroom and kitchen stuff. Hypermart has plenty of choices and offer good prices.
How do I get to Ubin Island?
Take a MRT to Tanah Merah MR Station (green line) and board Bus No. 2 to Changi Village bus interchange (last bus terminal). Then continue by a bumboat from Changi Jetty (now called Changi Point Ferry Terminal), which is near the Changi Village Hawker Centre.
Cost of the bumboat: $2.50/person. Maximum 12 passengers.
Just join the queue and the boats will leave when they have 12 persons. If there are less than 12 persons, you might have to wait a little while until enough people turn up. Or you can pay $30 and go straight away. The bumboat service operates from 6.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. by private operators.
Getting around on Ubin Island
Admission to Ubin is free. Ubin is ideal for leisurely strolls. There are well-marked roads and trails to explore. Stop by the NParks Information Kiosk near Ubin jetty for a free map and information on the latest happenings.
Cycling is another great way to explore Ubin. Bicycles can also be rented. The friendly bicycle rental people can tell you more about Ubin and advise you on where and how to go to various places of interest.
The bicycle rental shops are concentrated in the village, to the left of the jetty. Competition for business is keen and rental for a full-day is about S$8. Remember to check the condition of the brakes before you ride off as the terrain is hilly.
