The Proposal

Eric's Take:

Andrea already knew it was coming and I had the ring on Dec 16th, our 6 month anniversary, but I refused to give it to her if she expected it.  So for our anniversary we went out and ate a very nice dinner and went for a walk in Central Park.  She just knew I was going to do it then, but I made a liar out of her.  The following weekend we went to Plano for Christmas with her grandparents and she just knew it would be then, but again I made a liar out of her.  It was my intention to ask her father at that time but I was unable to get him by himself long enough to ask.  So the following Monday I called and got permission to ask his daughter to marry me and his response was, “Well I can't speak for her but good luck and I hope she says yes."  So for Christmas Eve we went to my parents in Seguin and she just knew I would ask her there, but I again I since her expectation and made a liar out of her.  For Christmas day we went to her sister's house to have Christmas with her family and again she just knew I would ask then, so I didn't.  Next rolled around New Years with her Grandparents again and she had talked about how she would love to have to start the new year engaged and she talked to her friends about how it would happen before the strike of midnight.  So we sat on the couch and waited for New Years with her parents, grandparents, aunt and cousin.  After the clock stroke midnight she started to cry and I asked her to go upstairs so we could talk about what was wrong.  She insisted nothing was wrong and she didn't want to go upstairs, so finally I convinced her to go upstairs before she made a scene.  Once upstairs she expressed her feelings that I would never ask her to marry me, while expressing these feelings she had her head on the bed when she looked up there was the ring and the biggest confused look I have ever seen.  I asked her to marry me and start the New Year with a promise she would be with me the rest of our lives.  And after a very long pause that felt like minutes she said yes and instantly the tears turned off and the smile from ear to ear came out.  We then came down stairs and she informed the rest of her family.  And now four months later we are here preparing the final stages of our wedding and almost hitched.
