Example Itinerary Guide

I have cut and pasted an Itinerary Guide if you are interested.  Obviously most of you will not have time to explore the entire area but it will give you some ideas...

A travel Guide for overnighters in the Scenic Rim

Day 1 Country Towns Route, stopping overnight at Moogerah.

Featuring the towns of Boonah, Kalbar, Roadvale, Harrisville and Peak Crossing.

From your starting point drive to Peak Crossing, and then to Harrisville This touring also has a few events throughout the year. Ask as you visit places.

   1. Peak Crossing to Harrisville via Warril View/Peak Crossing Road,, visit Normanby Wines in Harrisville and eat at Macaways Café.
   2. Harrisville to Roadvale via Munbilla Rd and Roadvale/Harrisville Rd. Roadvale has a typical Aussie Pub at its centre.
   3. Roadvale to Kalbar via Roadvale Rd and Teviotville Rd. In Kalbar have a coffee at the Art Café du Kalbar
   4. Kalbar follow Kalbar Connection Rd to the Boonah Fassifern Rd. turn right then first left onto Lake Moogerah Road. Stop at the dam for wonderful views across to Mount Greville, Mount Edwards and Mount French. Hire a Kayak at the Lake Moogerah Caravan site, well worth a stop if you are a caravanner.
   5. Continue on the Lake Moogerah Road, careful not to miss the right angle bend ( follow the Mount Edward signs). There is an untarmaced section of about 3 kilometres, then as the tarmac resumes there is Zengarra Country House on left, a luxury B & B..

Day 2 Natural Wonders:

Incorporating the towns of Boonah, Aratula and Mt. Alford and the natural attractions of Mt. French and Lake Moorgerah.

 1.    T Junction of Mount Alford Road and Lake Moogerah Road and turn towards Mount Alford. The road climbs up to a wonderful view of the Scenic Rim and the long straight road down to Mount Alford.

2.    Mount Alford is tiny but has an old store with petrol pumps outside, out of use now but was featured in much Queensland Advertising in the past.

 3.   Continue on for a couple of Kilometres and you will see the turn Brents Road to your right with a big sign to Kooroomba Vineyards. Take the turn and watch on your left for Bunjurgen Vineyards, an up and coming vineyard run by a very enthusiastic vigneron and well worth a visit. If you are still thirsty head on to Kooroomba for more tasting and lunch.

*Dugandan Pub on your left. Thirsty for beer or coffee try the “Duggie” or head into Boonah and try Café 17.
