The Proposal

Where to start...well it was christmas time, 2005. Kara was getting prepared to leave for two weeks, going to Georgia to spend time with her family. It would be the first time we had been apart for that long since we had become an official couple. I realized some time before the holiday that there were not too many women like this and I wanted to let her know that I was serious. After probably over a month of searching, I found a ring I liked and had it overnighted to me, because if I remember correctly she was leaving for Georgia within a few days. It came with no problem, except that Kara was at my house when it arrived! I tried to act as though it was no big deal, but I was very excited and I knew she could tell. So I decided to ask her "Do you want your christmas present early?" Again its hard to remember exactly, but I think we went back and forth over it for a bit her telling me it was up to me. Which i'm sure she knew meant I would give it to her instantly, I love giving gifts, have a hard time holding them back. I went into the bedroom and unwrapped it from the Fed Ex packaging, checked it over briefly(with my heart in my throat) and walked into the kitchen. Falling to one knee, I asked her to marry me. I believe the response was something like "Are you serious?" and "No, you didn't" which scared me at first but was followed quickly with a yes, an embrace and a kiss. After that we called any and everyone we knew to let them know the good news. She probably asked me 100 times that day "Are you sure?" but I always answered "of course" and i'm still sure now.
