Bert &Cheryl

Cheryl was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 22, 1982. She's pretty much been moving from place to place her whole life. From Winnipeg, Canada to Oxnard, California to Sydney, Australia and then back to various cities in Canada - she's come across so many people and befriended some of the greatest people she's ever known.

Although Cheryl went to school for Early Childhood Education, she's currently employed by the Vancouver School Board in Office Administration. She wishes one day to open up her own daycare when she and Bert begin having kids of their own, all 4 of them... but we'll see how that changes after the first labor!

In Cheryl's spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, eating and watching movies. She also likes the outdoors, so its definitely a bonus living in Vancouver! She loves to snowboard and of course, she loves her shopping! Cheryl loves taking pictures, even though its dwindled down the past few months. And of course, her favourite past time is talking to Bert on the phone or Skype any chance she gets!

She loves her family, friends and most importantly, she loves God, and thanks him every day for the many blessings she's had the past 27 years. Growing up in the ministry definitely has its sacrifices, but it also has its rewards. The experiences and friends she now has is all because she's lived in all these different places, and its also how she and Bert came to find each other.

Herbert Borja Garcia was born in the beautiful Homeland, Pampanga Philippines April 16, 1982. Spending half of his childhood in the Phillipines. He has grown accustomed to the many simple pleasures in life. Herbert came to the USA at the age of 7, leaving many childhood friends and family behind. Not knowing a word of english, Bert knew he had a long road ahead of him.

Bert spent his first few years out of high school working alongside his dad as a machinist. After learning his passion was not in machinery, Bert decided to go to school and work part time as a Physical therapist aid, at an out patient Physical therapy facility. From there, Bert started to see that helping people go through recovery and making them feel better even in the slightest was rewarding and fulfilling. Bert finished school to become a nurse. He is now currently working on the sub-acute unit floor. Bert has further learned that life is valuable in many ways. That life is fragile and short. And that we should appreciate each day as if it was the last.

In his down time Bert likes to ride his motorcycle, go rock climbing and in winter snowboarding and playing with his dog Hercules! Bert loves eating out with his family and trying different variety of foods from all over the world. Bert is adventurous and a risk taker. Some may even say hes a dare devil;) Although Bert wasnt always a phone person, things have definitely changed and ever since he met the girl of his dreams, Bert can't be seen without being on the phone. From texting and just simply saying " Hey!! Love! " or " I miss you more" Bert is trully a Happier person:) And definitely blessed!

Bert and Cheryl supposedly met back in 1998 in Temple Hills, MD for one of their church's sportsfests. However, Cheryl doesn't remember that all too well. They were reunited and met again in January of 2009 when their mutual friends decided to go to Whistler to snowboard. They were able to meet again because of their love of snowboarding.

Although the two said little words to each other during the 4 day vacation, their mutual friend, Killet found way to break down the shyness and unite them on facebook. From instant messages to private messages to texts to the first phone call, they soon realized they had much in common and lots to talk and laugh about.

Though distance kept them apart, nothing came between the growing love that soon unfolded. Quick weekend trips to Vancouver and New Jersey and long hours on the phone and Skype allowed Bert and Cheryl to get to know each other. It didn't take too long for the two to realize they were each other's gift from God. Sometimes we spend our whole lives searching, hoping one day we'll find the love of our life. But great things happen unexpectedly, and they were mysterioiusly led to the one they were meant for, and that was with each other.
