Just a last week (or two) reminder that we would be eternally grateful if you could bring a picture of yourself (yourselves) with pete and/or karen to be displayed at the wedding. At the end, we will be confiscating all pictures (except for those with a name on the back -- so if you want to keep yours, make sure you mark it up) to use to promote our nefarious deeds. Also keep in mind that flattering pictures will be more prominently displayed...except ones where Karen looks like a goof. Those will be front row centre...

John grew up in the small, cottage town of Midland Ontario where he
developed his aversion for bright lights, crowds of people and tall
buildings. At a young age, he left the safety and comfort of home for
the big city of Hamilton, intent on pursuing lucrative career in beauty
school (see profile picture). Well, let's just say that didn't work
out.... However, 7 short years at McMaster was rewarded with a strong
friendship and deep respect for Karen and Pete, who, despite living in
not-Toronto, remain two of his closest friends. John currently lives in
Toronto and is still afraid of bright lights, crowds of people and tall
buildings.

The reception is in the same venue as the ceremony (hello, convenience), although you WILL have to walk about 10 feet to get to it, so make sure you're wearing proper footwear....

Immediately after the ceremony there will be a cocktail hour with appetizers and drinks, followed by a sit-down dinner, served to you by the lovely Code's Mill staff.

With the exception of the cocktail hour there will be CASH BAR service, so please come prepared.

The day after the wedding we will be embarking on a brunch odyssey at a local eatery. They have graciously extended their restaurant for our usage in exchange for a bit of paper...go figure. The deliciousness will commence at 10:00 the Sunday morning and since we will be there, as our first post-wedding-married-forever act, you should be too. We will be providing info, directions and eating tips at the wedding. Just bring your appetite and your hangover. If you have any fork-related problems, please direct your questions to Nat Van Dine...

Coming from Toronto
Take HWY 401 East. When you get to Belleville, take exit #544/HWY 37 toward Belleville/Tweed. Turn right, on Cannifton Rd.(HWY 37), follow HWY 37 through Tweed. Turn right, onto HWY 7. Once in Perth, turn right (2nd intersection) onto Wilson St. Continue on Wilson St. past Foster St. You will see Code’s Mill on your left hand side. (Total driving time is approximately 4 hours).

Coming from Ottawa
Take HWY 417 West. Take exit #145/HWY 7, toward Carleton Place/Toronto. Continue on HWY 7, through Carleton Place. Once in Perth, turn left (2nd intersection) onto Wilson St. Continue on Wilson St. past Foster St.You will see Code’s Mill on your left hand side. (Total driving time is approximately 50 minutes).

Coming from Kingston
Take Perth Rd./CR-10 (from HWY 401-exit#617, from downtown Kingston-Division St.) toward Westport. Turn left onto Concession St./CR-42, turn right, onto Rideau St./CR-10 going through Westport. Continue on CR-10 until you get to Perth. Turn left onto Rogers Rd. At the “T”, turn right onto Peter St. At Wilson St. turn right again. You will see Code's Mill on the left hand side. (Total driving time is approximately 1 hour).

I've known Pete for many years. Some of my fondest memories are of building sail boats out of canoes, eating numerous free burgers at Burger King, and seeing Pete come home for high school convocation with Fire Engine red hair. While I've not known Karen quite as long, the good times we've shared have spanned multiple provinces, languages and spirits. I'm sure these two will make each other happy for many many year to come. So if you are invited to this shindig you best attend. You don't want to miss out on who challenges who to drink what. (That last part might be for you, Steve).

We have officially booked both parts of our glorious honeymoon. For the first part we will be vacationing in the socialist paradise of Cuba, more specifically in the Jibacoa locale. After we get our fill of sun, sand, drinks, cigars and the communist manifesto, we will be heading to the great white north. More specifically to a cottage on Crowe River in the Kawartha area. Our time will be spent walking from the bedroom to the couch where we will refuse to move all day...except to waddle to the wonderful hot tub where we will spend hours on end. My older sister Kiki has always been a big part of my life. I cherish many memories of our adventures, from sharing a bedroom together as siblings (which was more like sharing a library if you know Karen) to living in Ottawa, eating gelato, seeking kitten therapy and tutoring Kiki in the latest fashion trends (you should have seen what she wore in high school!)

When I first met Pete, I knew that he was Kiki’s perfect match. They balance each other out well, a case of love pure and simple. Karen being pure and Pete being simple ;-] .

What counts most in the pursuit of happiness is choosing the right traveling companion. It’s obvious that they have both chosen well, and I am thrilled for them both (though I am alarmed at their lack of cuddling when compared to other couples) (hee hee)

Motherless from childbirth and abandoned after my Father, Steven Shaddick, was killed, I was raised by my aunt and uncle on a farm. The years ground by slowly, during which I managed to achieve a degree in Political Scientology from the University of Western Ontario... But I always felt that I was destined for more, much, much more. In a serendipitous event, when I went looking for my run-away dog, I came across a dear friend of my father's - Jeffery Burke. Uncle Jeff and I returned to my farm only to find my aunt and uncle murdered by corrupt international agents.

Without family I decided to travel with my uncle Jeff to make right the world. This is where I meet Pete and my life changed forever. Uncle Jeff and I contracted Pete, a scruffy looking pirate, to transport us to rendez-vous with the president of Azerbaijan to give him the location of, and plans for, the weapons of mass destruction.

On our journey uncle Jeff taught me to the use of "The Fanshawe", "Fanshawe Journalism", that is. He taught me that through arrogance and over-confidence I could get an interview with anyone, and get them to spill all of their proverbial beans. On our journey I learned to wield the ancient "microphone" and mastered the art of rhetoric.

At the US boarder Jeff and I discovered that the beautiful Karen Owen of the CNSC was being held as a terrorist. Unable to meet with her attourneys, we knew that it was up to us to rescue her. We were successful in the rescue, but tragically, we lost uncle Jeff who was cut down by Featherstone's 12 gauge.

In our daring escape, I could see that Karen was quite taken by our scruffy looking pirate, but I would never have guessed that I would be standing up at their wedding one day. I'm honoured to be there when they say I do... because there is no try.
