Kody and I had been talking about marriage by the second month of our relationship! We both knew pretty early on that 'this was the one'! Well, to be clear, Kody knew immediately, it took me a little longer. :)
We had decided to propose to each other, but I asked that he surprise me with the 'how' and 'when'. We went and bought two simple silver rings, his is thick and mine is thin. They went in my bag, and awaited the big moment.
The whole Dillman family plus a few extras (including me) got the opportunity to go on an Alaskan cruise together! We drove out to Vancouver, camped along the way, and left for the Alaskan shores. It was a spectacular trip and I kind of figured the moment would happen on the boat. But the trip came and went with no surprise.
We were driving back from Vancouver after the trip, and stopped to camp in Revelstoke, BC. I woke up on the morning of July 13th, 2009 to a very awake and attentive Kody. Smiles and kisses and snuggles galore! I took my time waking up as the sounds and sunshine around the mountains was too wonderful to rush. After quite some time, I finally opened my eyes and this sweet man started to gush over me.
My heart warmed up inside as he shared how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. When he asked me to marry him, I said, 'A thousand times yes!'
Then I gushed over him and told him how much he had surprised me and swept me off my feet! How much I loved him and couldn't wait to grow old with him. And when I asked him to marry me, he said, 'a million times yes!'
We laughed and I said, 'you always have to win, don't you?!' He conceded and offered the smaller 'thousand yes's' and we kissed. I cried and then he held me while we prayed. It was wonderful and perfect and better than I could have imagined!
