Why did we choose Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa?

There are a few reasons we chose this island and resort. Negril, Jamaica has some of the most beautiful beaches & some of the most beautiful sunsets in the Western Hemisphere. We chose Sandals Negril because it is an all-inclusive resort that is very adult oriented and there are so many amenities for the cost that the decision was a very easy one to make. The Sandals also has exchange priviledges with the Beaches resorts so for families with children who would like to stay at the Beaches resort nearby that is a very convenient option.

What does all-inclusive mean?

What does all-inclusive mean?

Sandals is an all-inclusive or an “Unlimited-Luxury” resort, which means you don’t have to worry about budgeting money for activities, food, top shelf drinks, and tips while there. With the cost of the room, you are also paying for:

-All of your meals at 6 restaurants
-All of your top shelf alcoholic & nonalcoholic drinks at 5+ bars
-Land and water activities including snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking, boating/sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, tennis, biking, bocce ball, squash, racquetball, beach volleyball, etc.
-Unlimited scuba diving with an instructor throughout your stay at new dive sites daily
-Unending daily & nightly activities & entertainment including theme parties & nightly shows
-Access to Sandals Negril night club, 3 free-form swimming pools, jacuzzis, state-of-the-art fitness gym
-Access to Sandals Golf & Country Club
-Access to the world class Redline Spa (spa treatments cost extra)

And so much more more! We're not doing it any justice so visit their website to see all that Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa has to offer.

What if we don’t want to stay at Sandals?

Negril is one of the largest resort cities in Jamaica so there are other very nice places to stay all over the place. If you decide that you do not want to stay at Sandals Negril, contact our group travel agent, Jennifer, and she will recommend other options that can fit your needs. Please note that guests who are not staying at Sandals (with the exception of Beaches resort guests) will need to purchase a day pass to attend the wedding events for $75.

I noticed a different resort called Beaches Sandy Bay as well as the Beaches Negril? What's the difference between them and the Sandals Negril?

The Beaches line of resorts is completely family-oriented for parents and children, and is still owned and operated by the Sandals company. This is a great option for those traveling with children. The Beaches Sandy Bay resort is a 5 minute walk on the beach from Sandals Negril and Sandals guests can visit the Beaches resort at any time. Also anyone staying at the Beaches resorts is able to attend the Rehearsal Dinner & all wedding day events without having to pay a day pass at the Sandals resort.

How long can we stay?

This is your vacation so stay as long or as little as you would like. We will be arriving in Negril, Jamaica on Sunday, June 14th, 2009 and leaving on our honeymoon Sunay, June 21st, 2009. There is so much to see on the island should you choose to explore so take advantage if you have the time.

What is the dress code for the wedding & what should I wear?

If you're curious about what you should wear to the wedding we're asking that it be summer business casual. Guys may want to wear nice linen pants or slacks with a dressier button up shirt and girls can wear a more fancy evening summer dress. But remember, above all be comfortable.

What should we pack?

Like most of the islands in the Caribbean, Jamaica has a tropical/partially humid climate. Clothes that will be comfortable in this atmosphere will be the best thing to pack along with a bathing suit or board shorts and lots of sunblock. Even if you don't think you'll go in the water (you'd be crazy) bring something to swim in anyway. Otherwise, it is a good idea to pack something more business casual as some of the resturants do have a dress code.

Will we need a passport?

"On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document." (U.S. Department of State)

Everyone must have a passport to travel outside the US and join us on our special day. Please make sure your passports are up to date (if you have one) and that you send in your applications as soon as possible (if you do not have one).

For those of you who are getting your passport for the very first time, we would recomend looking at the following site to help you in the process:

First Time Passports

You can apply for your passport at your local post office or parks & recreation office. Currently the passport office is issuing passports in less than 4 weeks; however please give yourself enough time as the wait time may change. (it has changed from 4 to 6 and then back to 4 all in a few months time).

What type of electricity does Jamaica have?

They have the same electrical outlets that we have here in the states. Voltage is 110/ 60 hertz. Feel free to bring your own electrical devices, adapters are not necessary.

What types of currency are accepted?

The official currency is the Jamaican Dollar. The US dollar is also widely accepted as are travelers checks at most tourist locations. If you plan on using your credit card for purchases, please remember to call your credit card company in advance to inform them you will be doing some traveling.
