Vas & Julia - Our Destination Wedding

Vas & I had gone on a 2 month summer trip to Europe in May-June '07 to do a study abroad program along with an internship in Italy & to travel around Germany, Holland, France, & Spain before and afterwards.

We were visiting Paris after our program ended & we had been taking the "Hop On Hop Off" bus all day to get to all the famous places we wanted to see & the weather was perfect all day. Finally at around 5 pm we made it to the Eiffel Tower & right as we got in line it started to really pour down out of nowhere! I wanted to get out of line but Vas said that he wanted to wait it out so being the awesome tourists that we were we put on our raincoats & got out our umbrellas & waited out the storm in line! After about 15-20 min the rain stopped right as we finally got to the entrance and bought our tickets which we purchased for the very top floor of the tower. We took a bunch of pictures on our way up and then we finally got to the top of the tower.

When we got the the top the weather was perfect, beautiful sunny blue sky & poofy white clouds everywhere! I was amazed at how beautiful everything was below & it took my breath away. We both had been feeling even closer than ever & even more in love & sharing this moment together made my heart so happy it's hard to describe :) We took pictures for about 20 min from absolutely every side & Vas had been acting kind of strange but I didn't question it. Then all of a sudden we saw a huge heart burned into the grass way below & Vas started telling me it was for me (he didn't make it himself but it was a great coincidence it was there) and then for about 15 minutes he kept asking me all these weird questions like "will you look at this view with me for as long as you live" and "will you always give me your heart" and I answered "well of course" not understanding why he kept stammering all this stuff :) Then all of a sudden after about 15 min of this he pulled me over to the railing overlooking all of Paris & got really close to me, looked into my eyes, and asked me if I would be his forever & if I will marry him! Of course at this point I started sobbing & said "yes I will marry only you & am so in love with you I want to be with you for the rest of my life" and I cried for a good 20 min!! He didn't have a ring because he was scared that if would have brought it to Europe it might get stolen which was a good idea since some of our friends ended up getting robbed earlier. After all this we started asking every person we could find to take kissing pictures of us for the next 40 minutes on all the levels of the tower!! :) Later that night we were so excited & couldn't sleep so we called up our parents at 2 am and burst out with the good news to them!

The wonderful thing was that my mom bought us this great gift package in which 2 days later we got to get all dressed up & go eat dinner at the beautiful "Altitude 95" restaurant in the Eiffel Tower and then go on a beautiful romantic night cruise of the Seine River! There was a couple at our table that was celebrating getting married 3 days ago & another couple celebrating their 2 year anniversary so we were toasting each of them. Then we couldn't hold it in anymore & told the other couples at the table we had just gotten engaged there 2 days before & everyone toasted-we had the most amazing time celebrating our engagement!! :D 

When we got back home June 28th we started thinking about the rings and went shopping for about 2 weeks Vas found the most beautiful ring & put it on my finger :)
