My beloved is mine, and I am his

On Friday, October 3rd, he had gone home to ask my dad for permission to marry me. (which I knew nothing about!) My dad quizzed him on scripture and gave him a 30 minute lecture, but at the end said it would be an honor to have him as a son. That next Monday, he asked me to go on a date with him over the weekend. So, on Saturday, October 11, we woke up and drove to an apple orchard in North Carolina and spent the morning just enjoying God's creation and each others company. We went to Bonclarken to have a picnic lunch, and we ate at the amphitheater which is where I've wanted to get married for a few years now. We were eating our lunch and then Chris said he'd forgotten something in the car and left to go get it. When he came back he was just carrying his bible. We finished eating lunch and Chris said that he wanted to read me something and asked if I would sit on the cooler with him because it'd "be more fun." (I was still completely oblivious at this point). He read the last chapter in Proverbs, the one about a Godly woman and a Godly wife, and when he was done he looked at me and told me how much these verses reminded him of me. He told me how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.(At this point I started freaking out because I realized what was about to happen!) He told me that he wanted to cherish me for the rest of his life and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I completely freaked out! He said I was making the funniest faces at him because I couldn't believe it was really happening! I kept stuttering and asked him if it was really happening or if it was just a dream, and he just laughed and said it was the real thing. I jumped up and gave him a huge hug and just started laughing. He hugged me back and spun me around and then set me down and asked, "so.. is that a yes?" I laughed and said yes. It was so perfect. He prayed with me after that and asked God to bless our relationship and to help us glorify Him through our relationship. He asked that God would help us to always focus on him and make Him the center of our relationship. He also prayed that God would help him be the leader, and help me be the helper. :)

I still can't believe it really happened!!
