Her Story

Vera was born and raised in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. She is the oldest of 3 children. She has 2 younger brothers, Alex and Agustinus (aka Lung2). Alex is now in Bandung with their parents while Lung2 is a sophomore at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Vera came to the US at the age of 17 and attended the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA for a year then transferred to Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN in January 1999. She graduated from Purdue with a B.S degree in Computer Engineering in 2001 and then worked full time for Cummins Inc in Columbus, Indiana.

After working for 5 years, she decided to go back to school for to get an MBA. She is now a full time MBA student at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin. And this bio sounds like a resume because she is in b-school :)

His Story

Hendrik was born in Surabaya, East Java, but was raised in Mojokerto and Muntilan. He has an older brother, Bob, who lives and works in Washington, DC area. Their mom lives in Muntilan with the rest of their extended family.

He also left home early to attend high school (Loyola College) in Semarang. Soon after graduation, he moved to Indiana in the US to pursue a higher education Computer Engineering at Purdue University. He graduated in December 01 and moved to Austin, TX to work for National Instruments. He is now a Staff Software Engineer & Project Manager for NI and also a part time graduate student of Software Engineering in UT Austin. He expects to get his M.S degree very soon ! ^_^

Our Story

How we met ? Duh, at Purdue of course ! We had the same major, same classes for 3 years.

We met for the first time in EE200 class in Spring 1999. We were a couple by the end of the year. From 2002 until earlier this year, we were in a long distance relationship with Vera working in Indiana and Hendrik in Austin. 

We got engaged last summer (2006) and Vera started to make plan for the move to Austin. The "wedding" has always been planned for end of 2007, but we actually already tied the knot officially in March of this year in Austin!
