Nuthin' says "I Love You" like a big ol potluck. We both love food. We both love community. Potlucks bring these things together. Sharing food with those we love holds a very special place in our hearts and we look forward to including it as part of our celebration. We would be honoured for you to put time and love into making a delicious dish to share. Seasonal and local dishes get bonus points as we value celebrating the freshness the season brings and honour the farmers who put love and work into growing our food.
We kindly request that all food be vegetarian (this means no meat, including fish. If it walked, swam or breathed leave it out of your meal). If this presents a challenge for you check out your local library for some amazing vegetarian cookbooks, or let the interweb help you out. Also, because it would be great if Christine could eat some of the yummy food, if you feel comfortable making meals that don't include diary (cow milk, butter, cheese or yogurt - try substituing soy, almond or rice milk instead), and that are wheat free (try substituting kamut or spelt flour), we (and Christine's belly) would welcome your contribution. If wheat free and/or dairy free cooking is unknown and scary territory for you, don't panic, and just bring something vegetarian. Aim for a contribution that is about 8 servings of deliciousness.
Although we love dessert potlucks, we want this meal to be a bit more balanced. We want every person to bring either an appetizer, main dish, salad, or dessert to contribute to the meal. To organize this process when you RSVP please tell us what your top choice of preferred course to bring is, and what your second choice is. We'll keep track of the responses, and then post a list on this page with which of your choices it would work out best for you to bring. For example, Wanda would love to bring one of her famous desserts but could also bring a spectacular salad. But when Wanda RSVPs we are already full up on requests to bring dessert and would love her to instead bring a salad. So we post Wanda's name under the salad category on this page and then Wanda will know salad it is!
We will have a big ol fridge to keep cold things cold, will have space to store room temperature things, and have lots of plug in space for crock pots to keep hot things hot. Also, please bring your own serving utensils and label your dishes for easy end of night reunions.
We will be serving beer and wine and non-alcoholic drinks. If you'd like to partake in a drink of a different variety, you're welcome to bring it along.
