SIRENIS LA SALINA

Sirenas2

The Sirenis La Salina is a newer large resort with 8 bars, 8 restaurnats, and 2 pools.  The Sirenis has gotten some wonderful reviews on websites such as tripadvisor.

There is a main building where guests will find the buffet restaurant but accomodations are spread out in bungalows throughout the grounds (see picture above, the main building is out of view at the top of the picture).   Guests can request a room closer to the main building, quiet pool, activity pool, or beach (It is a 5-10 minute walk from the main building to the beach).   We have requested the block of rooms closest to the beach/activity pool.  Please let us, or your travel agent, know if you would prefer another area.

The Sirenis in total has 998 standard rooms, 10 handicap, and 27 suites.  All of which are equiped with CD players, hair dryers, a safety deposit box ($), mini bar, satelite TV, and room service.

The voltage in the rooms is 220 volts.  An adaptor will be required.

Little Tips

  • pack a small umbrella in case it rains on your way to the main building for meals.  Not that it will rain of course, but just in case.

  • Cubans are not able to buy the simple things we take for granted such as shampoo, soap or pencil crayons.  Any of these items would be greatly appreciated as tips.  We typically leave little nicknacks as a tip for the maid every morning along with a couple of pesos.  Anything for children is the best!  We were once told by a local that a classroom of children will have to share a pack of crayons.

  • Don't be surprised if your maid and other staff at the resort ask you to leave your shampoo, soap and any clothing you dont want behind for them.  We generally leave all our toiletries behind for the maid on our last day.  It helps with the weight issue and its only like $20 for us but a world of difference to them.

  • Baseball is their national sport.  Any gifts to do with baseball will be loved.
