Rowena’s Inn along the Harrison river has got to be one of the most beautiful country wedding venues in the Fraser Valley. It’s at this hidden gem of a wedding venue that Julin and Rusli celebrated their September wedding. The latter half of 2010 had a lot of rain last year in the Metro Vancouver region, and even Julin and Rusli couldn’t escape it despite being an hour and a half drive away from Vancouver. Most of the day was spent indoors and the dinner reception was held under a tent on the golf resort grounds. Roa Floral and Event Designs did an amazing job decorating the entire venue and much of the ceremony venue decorating were done with short notice because we had all expected to have the ceremony outdoors. Regardless of the weather, the wedding itself was beautiful. There were purple and pink flowers and decor accents, a colorful candy table, the several fun modern and traditional western and Indonesian events throughout the day to entertain the wedding party and guests. The month of November in Vancouver is as wet and chilly as it gets, but not even the cruel weather could stop Marlen and Marco from celebrating a warm and festive travel-themed wedding. They tied the knot at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish in Vancouver and we later traveled downtown for photos. Lucky for all of us, Marlen and Marco`s friends rented at room for them at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel as a gift, so we spent much of our time hanging around the new hotel taking photos indoors and by the swimming pool. We even got a tour of the honeymoon suite, which I can say had a spectacular view of the inlet. We later enjoyed a tour around town in their limo bus before heading to the Rocky Mountaineer Train Station for their wedding reception. The place was dressed to the nines, and their travel theme played out beautifully with the existing decor of the train station. Each table represented a place they had been or wished to travel to, and they also had cool travel log guest books that asked their guests for some interesting advice – “what should we name our children” – too cool! The venue was spacious and had real character. It`s one of the more unique large wedding venues in Vancouver (2200 square feet) and there was plenty of free parking for guests, even if it`s a little hidden, but I suppose that could be a good thing. Did I mention that Marlen and Marco also set up a wicked photo booth for their guests? photos can be viewed here. Lauren + Mark were married in October in Vancouver. They leased a heritage house in town and got ready at the same location. Being a easy-going couple, they had no qualms about getting ready at the same place and even seeing each other in the hall way (not to mention the fact that Lauren actually helped Mark put on his suit). Photos were taken around Vancouver and they later said their vows at one of the best venues to get married in Vancouver, the Vancouver Aquarium. The ceremony was quite emotional and the speeches were quite candid and entertaining. The dancing was spectacular and I’m sure all the guest enjoyed the aquarium atmosphere. Tweet

Summer engagement session: Sanya + Murray 2011-01-23

September has got to be one of my favorite months for photos sessions, especially engagement photos. July and August are certainly nice months, but we often find the warm weather actually makes in difficult to photograph at certain times of the day. Not so in September (and a few other months during the year). The temperature is often just right and if you can find a sunny day, there’s something magical about September that just can’t be put into words. Luckily for us, Murray and Sanya weren’t available over the summer for their e-session, so we had to wait until late September. Sanya picked this day a month before and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful days that month. It had rained days before (and in the days following), but for this one day, everything was perfect. We were close to Autumn, but it felt like a sunny Spring or Summer afternoon – so we spent it near the water and got of magnificent shots of the both of them just hanging out and doing their thing. It was a good thing their e-session was bright and sunny because their November wedding at Cecil Green was chilly and although the sun peaked for a while, most of the evening was dark a gloomy outside. Can’t wait for the weather to warm up again this year! Tweet

Sneak Peek: Wedding photos at the Vancouver Orpheum Theatre 2011-01-30

Sneak Peek: Wedding photos at the Vancouver Orpheum Theatre

January weddings are not always fun because of the cold, rain, and sometimes snow. But when you know the weather is going to suck outside, why not plan to do everything indoors? Vancouver offers a number of stunning indoor locations for photography and one of those is none other than the Orpheum Theatre Vancouver. It’s one of the few classic theatrical venues we have left and it offers amazing old-world decor that screams love and beauty. We spent about an hour at the theatre and got a handful of photographs highlighting the decorative beauty of this venue and of course the celebration of Peggy and David’s wedding day. Tweet
