I’m so excited to tell you about our Ask the Experts seminar which is being held on January 19, 2011 at the beautiful King’s Daughters’ Inn in Durham right on the campus of Duke University. It has been loveingly restored and it is fabulous!
Experts are participating to talk about photography, flowers, wedding gowns, cakes and wedding etiquette for the modern bride. Its a fun packed event from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
There will be no registration at the door. We are only accepting pre-registration because we want to keep this a small, intimate grouup where brides can feel comfortable asking questions and interacting with the experts ~ one-on-one.
We are also having some terrific give aways so bring your business cards! To register, contact Barbara Clark at eaffair@aol.com or call 919.847.6546. The cost is $35 but if you register by December 22, 2010, we are offering a coupon for $10 off the admission.
Our panel of experts include: Kirstine Dittmer Photography, Tre Bella Flowers & Wedding Gowns, Sweet Memories Bakery and An Elegant Affair.
See you there! Bring your questions! Planning a wedding can be daunting! The experts are here to provide guidance to help you successfully navigate the process.

You know how I am always on the look out for new and interesting wedding ideas. Here is one that I recently found ~ Elana Dweck has come up with the idea of a family-tree inspired seating chart! Its very creative. She has seven customizable templates. Check out her website at: www.melangerienyc.com
I also found a great website for custom tote bags that can be used for hospitality bags for out of town guests, for your wedding party or any number of different things. Go to: www.maptote.com
For those who are going to have cupcakes at their wedding reception, if you want to add a special touch wrap them in designs from Paper Orchid. Go to: www.paperorchid.com
Now why didn’t I think of any of these great ideas????

It is not often that I have a wedding on the Saturday after Thanksgiving but this year I do. I am very excited because we are doing both the ceremony and the reception at The Nasher Museum of Art on the campus of Duke University. This is the very first ceremony that has been done at the museum. They do lots of wedding receptions but never an actual wedding. I’m very excited to be the first.
I will have lots to tell you about after this weekend. In the meantime, stay safe and enjoy Thanksgiving.

Once Halloween arrives ~ the season speeds up with Thanksgiving and Christmas following fast! If you are in the process of planning your wedding, the challenge of meeting with florists, caterers, etc. gets increasingly difficult during the Holiday Season. I suggest to my brides that they try to plan to do as much before the Holidays and then take a break and resume in January.
If the bride has enough planning time (up to a year) she is better able to work around the busy season and still get everything accomplished. One thing you will really want to do, is register for wedding gifts before the Holidays because mothers, aunts etc., will probably look at that registry when decided on a Christmas present ~ giving you a head start on your china pattern, etc.
Of course if you are planning a Christmas or December wedding, then your special day is fast approaching and you should have only last minute items to do; such as, escort cards, final headcount, hospitality gifts etc., For those not having a Christmas wedding, relax and enjoy the Holidays.
