I have been enjoying photography for over 20 years now. Recently,
I have taken the full-time plunge and I am pursuing my passion of photography as a career.

I am looking to specialize in Weddings and Family Beach Photography. However, I can handle any photography needs you may

Now if you really want to read more about August and how his passion and talent grew over the years...

Just over 20 years ago August was offered a chance to take some photography or pottery classes by a wonderful art teacher named Mrs. Mills. He chose photography and things were never the same. August has an extensive creative and artistic background. First chosen to attend the Saturday Creative Art Classes at The Carnegie Museum in 5th grade, he progressed to a full scholarship to attend Saturday college level classes on a full scholarship at Carnegie Mellon University. August was a finalist 2 years in a row for the Pennsylvania Governors’ School for the Arts. He also attended a specialized summer course for photography at Slippery Rock University in-between his junior and senior year of high school.

However, his photography background was developed at the Manchester Craftsmen’s’ Guild on the North side of Pittsburgh, PA. This program was non-traditional in that there were not professors and formal classes. This photography program was more like getting tossed into the deep end and learning every step of the way. Take the pictures, go into a dark room, develop the film, then to another dark room to print and develop the pictures. Then careful critiques by not only the photography directors, but the many professionals that frequently visited the Guild.

August received the first ever award for photographic excellence that the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild ever awarded. He has even sold a variety of his works along with one picture to the then President of the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education.

At 17, August saved and finally, with his father’s help, purchased his first professional SLR camera. Thousands and thousands of photos later, his passion for photography has never waned. Over the years, he has photographed dozens of weddings for family and friends. He has photographed friends and family for special occasions of all sorts. It is with this never ending desire and a change of life circumstances that has brought him back to photography as a full-time profession/passion.

Hence the birth of “August T. Michel Photography”!

August has had a long and successful career in sales, marketing and management. Taking care of the customer will always be first and foremost.
