I had been looking forward to having this boudoir photo shoot from the moment I scheduled it as a reward for all of the hard work that I invest in my body and well-being. The dedication that I have for fitness, health and feeling good about myself is ever-present in my daily life. It presents itself in many forms, from rigorous exercise to occasional self-indulgences. In the weeks preceding the photo shoot I worked on evening my tan lines and had yet a stronger conviction to eat healthy and get in some extra workouts. Too often, I have been unhappy with the way I turn out in photos, so I wanted to make sure that I looked and felt my best, leaving the rest to Barbara to work her magic in giving me photos that I could pride myself in.
As a mother of two little ones, I have learned to fully embrace pampering moments for myself and was savoring this entire experience. I walked in the room, met the sweet, talented women who were doing the hair and makeup, and was handed a mimosa while they went to work transforming my hair and makeup to a fairytale level of beauty. In what seemed like only moments, I was ready to go. I threw back one more mimosa for enjoyment and put on some lingerie and heels. I felt very comfortable and confident with Barbara behind the camera while her contagious enthusiasm pleasantly filled the room. In one shot, she said something that I will always relate back to this experience. She told me to look up, take a deep breath, close my eyes, and just take a special moment to appreciate my own unique beauty.
Having just seen a “sneak peek” of my photos, I know that Barbara was able to capture just that beauty, self-appreciation and confidence that I was feeling. I am thrilled to have some very special photos of myself that I can take pride in and treasure throughout the years to come.
