While Ben takes great pictures, I really wish I would've paid more for a photographer with more experience in weddings. Ben did get some great pictures but was not very sociable or friendly with our guests, it felt like he was shooting our wedding simply because we paid him-not because photography is what he loves to do. Everything felt very rushed while in reality we had plenty of time. He had 3 poses for my husband and I to be in and 1 pose for us and the wedding party. After he took those poses he asked if there were any in particular I wanted. I had contacted him before the wedding because I had saved many pictures/poses from other weddings that I liked-but he asked me not to send them because he wanted to use his own creativity. I really wish he would've used it. He assured me he knew all of the typical wedding pictures and details that he'd need to take...however, I had to ask him to get pictures of my dress hanging, my shoes and jewelry details, our flowers, etc. He did not get any pictures of the rings, our centerpieces, the reception table setup-details that are standard for photographers...at least I thought. I have ZERO posed full length pictures of me in my dress. I asked for posed pictures of each table at the reception-he did not take those, and really that was my only specific request. The background of EVERY picture is blurry-an effect that looks great in a few pictures-but I would like to see the whole moment captured in focus.
We were also supposed to receive a disc with all of our edited images...when we got the disc we noticed many pictures we remember taking were left off the disc because he said they did not turn out. We wanted to see every picture because while there may have been some he didn't think were good-they may have sparked a memory for us. His editing and retouching included in the contract is extremely limited- I asked to have a tag that was showing from my dress edited out in my prints and he responded that because all of the time involved it would be extra. It was obvious he didn't want to put much time into our pictures because the disc was burned the day after our wedding.
Overall, Ben does take good pictures but when it's all over, the pictures are all you have left. Unfortunately for us, there are many moments from our wedding that were not captured.
