When I photograph a wedding a portion of the proceeds goes to help re-establish a village in the Congo ripped apart by the resource war. (see my website) These are soldiers who fight for the resources of the Congo such as cobalt, iron and diamonds. The story I just completed in the Congo about the rape of one little girl will soon be published around the world. We hope that this effort encourages awareness of abuse of resources and how it affect of others. I photograph weddings as a way to help support humanitarian work around the world that is almost always based on the fight for resources. I believe in getting to the root of the problems which means educating people to buy used, use less, buy local and think about the affects globally. Sherrlyn Borkgren
