Bridal Reflections NYC relocates 2009-12-14

If you are getting married there are two locations that I can think of that every bride must visit, that is Kleinfelds and Bridal Reflection. In both locations you will receive white glove service while trying on the most amazingly crafted bridal gowns.

I was fortunate enough to purchase my wedding gown from Bridal Reflections in NYC and was delighted to hear the news that they have already outgrown their current location. Now location on Fifth Avenue between 28th and 29th street, the luxurious location is three times larger than its previous space.

Filled with beautiful chandeliers and completed with red carpet walkway, lends to the overall luxurious experience.

Bridal Reflections carries fashion from Ines Di Santo, Romona Keveza, Anne Barge, David Tutera, Badgley Mischka, St. Pucchi, Marina K. Couture, Katerina Bocci, Cristine Anthony, Eve of Milady, Amalia Carrara, James Clifford, Ysa Makino, Stephen Yearick, Alvina Valenta, Avine Perucci, Jim Hjelm, Lazaro, Simone Carvalli and dozens more.

Interactive Stations: S’mores Bar 2009-12-15

It is always a great idea to introduce new concepts at your event.  After all who does not want an event that is considered memorable?  Having interactive stations such as the various bars whether it is a mash potatoes, candy, popcorn or cereal bar, it is a great way to get your guests out of their seats and participate in the festivities.

When I came across these pictures from a s’mores bar that was done at a wedding, I thought how fun! Maybe you and your spouse are big campers, why not invite your guests to one of your favorite past times.

After your successful s’more bar, go a step further and send you guests home with their own s’mores kit that they can enjoy at home. I am all about edible favors since chances are your guests will likely eat them.

How do you make your Eggnog? 2009-12-14

True Confession: Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love everything about this time of the year. Growing up in NY I remember there was never a year my father did not take me to see the Rockette’s with an amazing dinner to follow after (usually a new restaurant that served great seafood since this is my favorite food group). After the rockets we would go and see the tree at Rockefeller center then join the long lines to see the windows of Lord &Taylor and Saks Fifth avenue. As an addict of this holiday, I wanted to share a few ways to share my favorite drink of all time – Eggnog.  Here are a great few recipes for you to try during this holiday season.

From YumSugar:

Eggnog Martini

Ingredients

Crushed graham crackers, optional for garnish
1 1/2 ounces dark rum
1 ounce spiced rum
1/2 ounce vanilla vodka
3 ounces store bought eggnog
1/4 ounce simple syrup
cinnamon stick, optional for garnish

Directions

  1. Dip the rim of a martini glass in water and then into the crushed graham crackers.
  2. Combine dark rum, spiced rum, vodka with eggnog and simple syrup in an ice-filled martini shaker. Shake well, strain and pour into a prepared glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

From Martha:

Martha’s Classic Eggnog

Serves 12

  • 6 large eggs, separated
  • 3/4 cup superfine sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 cups heavy cream, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 cup bourbon, preferably Maker’s Mark
  • 1/4 cup dark rum, preferably Mount Gay
  • 1/4 cup Cognac, preferably Remy Martin Grand Cru
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, for sprinkling

Directions

  1. Beat yolks in a very large bowl until thick and pale. Slowly beat in sugar. Whisk in milk and 2 cups cream. Mix in bourbon, rum, and Cognac. Cover, and refrigerate for up to 1 day.
  2. Just before serving, beat whites until stiff peaks form. Fold whites into eggnog. Whisk remaining 1 cup cream until stiff peaks form, and fold into eggnog. (Alternatively, you can fold half the whipped cream into eggnog, and top with remaining half.) Sprinkle with nutmeg.

And for those that loves the drink but hates the calories

Egg Nog – Healthy recipe

1/2 cup eggs
3 oz rum
3 tbsp sugar
nutmeg
13 oz skimmed condensed milk
3/4 cup skimmed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Whip egg substitute and sugar together, combine with the two kinds of milk, vanilla, and rum. Mix well. Chill over night. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Makes 6 servings

Sunday Blog Love – decor8 2009-12-13

Often a great source of new color palette ideas as well as nesting tips, decor8 is my go to source for keeping things unique and chic here at ellyB events.

This is the blog for you if you want to get ideas not only for your event day but beyond. Understand how you can carry color palette’s that may have inspired you off into your newlywed life.

True confession: My favorite color is red so naturally this was the colors for my bridal party. When we moved into our new home I knew my husband would never allow me to bring red into our bedroom so instead I opted to go with a crimson, black and off white color palette for our living room. This way I will always have a piece of my wedding day with me.
