Romantic Moonlight Wedding 2009-09-22

Photos by Jeter Photography

On September 4, a great big, gorgeous round moon rose over Cedarwood around sunset, presenting a stunning evening celebration following the romantic garden wedding of Maggie Purdue and John Speer.

Seriously, all we can say is wow, wow and wow! Basking in beautiful moon glow was an extravagant gift from Mother Nature, but seeing the dramatic images captured by the talented Jeter Photography is an enduring gift of pure magic to be enjoyed forever.

If you don't have Jeter Photography on your short list for photographer interviews, we highly recommend that you add them! John and Peggy continue to impress us with their talent, their graciousness and their engaging style.

We will share more photos from this wedding soon in a follow up post!

Maggie and John are a remarkable couple and we thoroughly enjoyed working with them. Jo Ann Speer, the groom's mom, was a tremendous joy as well! We loved her special 'signature drink' recipe - Maggie and John's Passion Punch - a blend of Pomegranate and Pineapple juices with ginger ale. Delicious and deliciously color-coordinated with the wedding decor!

The union of this beautiful couple and their celebration took center stage, but the wonderfully warm evening and last full moon of summer was a big bonus.

Upcoming Cedarwood couples can check out the online Farmer's Almanac for the moon calendar for next year --- we think planning a wedding around the full moon is a romantic and worthy idea!

Thanks to Jeter Photography for sharing these beautiful photos. Congratulations Maggie and John! Thanks for letting us bask in your wedding moon glow.

Maggie + John = The Luckiest 2009-09-23

Photos by Jeter Photography

Maggie Purdue and John Speer are a totally charming couple and we feel lucky that they chose Cedarwood for their casually elegant September 4 wedding. In this amazing photo, Maggie poses with a four leaf clover found on the ceremony lawn. Get out of here! Almost as incredible as the full moon shining over their romantic front lawn dance in yesterday's blog post.

Maggie is from Connecticut and wanted to treat her family to a little Nashville flavor. Cedarwood's country flair and relaxed setting was a perfect fit. Hatch Show Print invitations was a fun introduction to the wedding style and showcased Nashville's unique talents. Another Nashville original, Las Paletas, the gourmet popsicle that's making national headlines, was central to John and Maggie's love story: the site of their first date and their engagement. Proposal on a Popsicle stick! Great job, John!

Jeter Photography shot some of the delightful details that made the wedding so sweet, but nothing compares to the emotional connection between this couple. Their love for each other jumps right off the page, or should we say photos?

Their up-tempo wedding colors of Burgundy, cream, golden yellow and peach matched the lively details and especially the fun loving wedding party!

Maggie and John sent us this note about their relationship and their wedding experience.
"Our wedding day was just about the most perfect experience John and I could have asked for. The word that sums it all up for us is lucky. We are so lucky to have crossed paths one day sitting in a coffee shop and SO lucky to have such wonderful families and friends. We loved that John's brother, Hughes, unbeknownst to us, selected "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds to sing during the ceremony and that John's mother found a four leaf clover at her feet as the flower girls dropped their pedals walking down the aisle. We are so lucky to have found Cedarwood. John stumbled upon your website when we first started discussing marriage. We visited on a cold and rainy day last February. Despite the less than ideal conditions, we could picture ourselves starting our new life together in the elegant yet casual surrounds of Cedarwood. I fell in love with all the romantic and whimsical details- the burgundy barn, the mason jars, the old tree swing... We can't tell you how many people commented that our Cedarwood wedding was one of the most picturesque that they had attended. Everything was just perfect- from the planning stages with Linda and Karen, email communications, the caterers, the stunning flowers, our wonderful wedding coordinator, Christa, the wait staff- I could go on and on. John and I could not be happier.I know you all are just doing your jobs- but you are each remarkable at what you do. You make fairy-tales come true and John and I feel like the two luckiest people in the world."

All the best to you,
Maggie & John Speer - September 4th, 2009

We agree that the love you share makes you one lucky couple. May your luck continue to grow as much as your love for each other!
Thank you so much for the kind compliments and taking the time to write to us! Sharing in your wedding was a true pleasure and honor for all of us.

It Was Magical 2009-09-29

We have had so much excitement at Cedarwood lately. Our recent weddings have been amazing, especially the Sunday night celebration of Holly Williams and Chris Coleman.

Finally we got to enact our vision of the ultimate countryside ceremony on Cedarwood's meadow using our antique church pews and Victorian Gothic windows...it was magical just like Holly says in the People Magazine news preview article. Look for more on all of the details when official wedding photos are released by Tec Petaja.

Country singer Holly Williams gets married
Country legend Hank William’s granddaughter ties the knot

Latest News from PEOPLE.com - View the article here.

NEW YORK - How much fun did Holly Williams have at her Nashville wedding Sunday evening? Her dress tells the story, the country singer says.
“I’m looking at my Vera Wang exclusive gown on the hotel room floor and it is covered with mud and ripped to shreds,” she tells PEOPLE with a laugh. “The grandkids will think I was a wild one.”
Despite the couture carnage, the nuptials between Williams, 28 — the granddaughter of country legend Hank Williams and daughter of Hank Jr. — and drummer Chris Coleman, 29, were all southern elegance.

Held at Cedarwood, an 1830s farm estate in Nashville, the ceremony took place outdoors where guests, including Kid Rock and Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus (who sang a solo version of “Bless the Broken Road”), were seated on church pews decorated with lavender sachets. Antique chandeliers hung from nearby trees.

The bride, whose 10 bridesmaids were clad in black Vera Wang gowns, was escorted down the aisle by her father, who, she says “was wildly nervous but he did great with it. He kept himself together.”
Coleman, whose pal Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill was one of the groomsmen, says he had a harder time. “Holly was breathtaking,” he says. “When she turned the corner with her dad I was overwhelmed, and the closer she got the more beautiful she got. I don’t know if it was the sun radiating or her, but either way I was sweating.”
The newlyweds danced their first dance to Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler’s “I Dug Up a Diamond” — a nod to their engagement when Coleman buried a ring for Williams to find.

Later, the crowd hit the dance floor as Kid Rock sang a few Bob Seger tunes along with his own hit, “All Summer Long.” The bride and groom took the stage for a version of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” with Williams on vocals and Coleman on drums.
As the reception ended, the couple were driven off in a 1939 Packard while guests held sparklers. “It was,” Williams says, “magical.”

We can't wait to show you all the design and details in future blogs! There are so many amazing weddings to blog about...finding enough time to blog within our intensely busy fall wedding schedule is the most creative challenge of all!

Courtney and Justin Part II 2009-10-07

Photos by Ace Photography

Courtney and Justin Nipper's July 11 Summer Cedarwood wedding was all southern sweetness. This is a couple that reminds us what it's like to be young, beautiful and in love.

The pink hues of their wedding flowers, fashion and decor - especially their daisy flower motif - were all about romantic notions. We especially love the Ace Photography shot of Courtney and Justin's silhouette through the pink umbrella. Sooo swweeet!

We love motifs to pull together a wedding style. The daisy also appears on their whimsical Patty Cakes wedding cake.

The anticipation of this moment is tantalizing. We never get tired of "first meeting" photographs.

Courtney and Justin gave favor donations to the American Cancer Society. Bravo!

The bounty and beauty of the garden was brought table side with reception centerpieces.

Courtney's bridal bouquet was a mix of romantic David Austin roses, orchids, lisianthus and stephanotis.

Courtney and her Dad -- such a bond. We are touched by the expression of emotion during their special dance.

Thanks Ace Photography for sharing these wonderful wedding day images. Courtney and Justin, may the month to month anniversaries you now celebrate turn into amazing years together. It was a pleasure and honor for us to work with you and your families to host your joyous wedding at Cedarwood.
