Our approach to photographing a wedding is fairly simple. Our job is to unobtrusively document you and your spouse as the day unfolds so that you can recreate all the energy and spontaneity of your unique day for years to come. We usually start with the getting ready photos.
We shoot what’s happening to you, around you and the behind-the-scenes things you didn’t even know about. I don’t want to interrupt and interfere with your day… it’s YOUR day, not us the wedding photographer’s. The only time we make ourselves known is if you need help and during the formal group photos. We also do this in a timely and efficient manner.
Then we fade back into the background, and we anticipate moments and capture them as they happen. We do not want to recreate them afterwards, or create “candid” moments.
Please check out the FAQ section which gives you more ideas about what sets Expose The Moment apart from other wedding photographers in New Hampshire as well as answering many of your questions. To find out what my clients think about me, click the link “Raves”.
Below I’ve included a narrative of what a typical wedding day is like from a bride’s point of view. This should help differentiate between a wedding photographer and a wedding photojournalist.
How I Would Approach Your Wedding Day
Spontaneity, Energy, Peak Moments, Fitting In
You’ve spent months preparing for your big day, a lifetime picking out your spouse and today is finally here. Will it all go the way you imagined it? Your wedding photographer arrives as you’re starting to get ready. He introduces himself and asks you to go back to what you’re doing. You’ve got lots to do and the excitement is building and so you do just that… you simply go back to what you’re doing.
The church lady is starting to give instructions, the ball is rolling. You might notice as you start to line up for your big entrance that your wedding photographer doesn’t seem to be there. Oh, there he is, waiting off from the main aisle. You breeze through the ceremony, relieved that everything went so smoothly.
Oh my God, I’m MARRIED! Your mind is spinning, you’re so happy, so excited, so relieved! The ceremony was over so quickly, it’s all blurring together. You greet people and before you know it, the church is emptying out. Aren’t I supposed to make sure grandma doesn’t leave before the pictures? As that thought crosses your mind, you look back into the church and notice that the photographer and family members are finding seats at the back of the room. Oh, there’s grandma. The wedding photographer is ready for formals. You start the 1-hour of formal group photos. They aren’t your favorite thing, but you know how important they are to your family, so you put up with them.
What? We’re done already? Okay, great… on to the party. As you head off to the reception, a feeling of euphoria sets in… you really are married and the pressure is really off!
Everybody’s having such an awesome time and really letting loose. Aunt Sally’s doing the limbo in the corner! I wish Gary could… oh, there he is. Yes, he is good, isn’t he? I found him on the web. He’s an awesome wedding photographer, that why he’s catching everything. You can just reach him through his web site.

Saturday May 15th, 2010 could not have been a brighter, prettier day for a wedding! Kristen and Frederico’s 11AM wedding meant we could use that gorgeous light all day long, and we did. Bright and early we met up with our bride and groom to witness them preparing for their day. Frederico and his father are clearly the best of friends and both of these guys were going to enjoy the ceremony ahead. Our groom was a picture of calm bravery…and no (hardly any) butterflies to speak of! We shot a few formals in the gardens on the hotel grounds and before we knew it the limosine had arrived.
First Baptist Church was filled with late morning light for Kristen and Frederico…the weather being that one thing you just can’t control, it seems like luck is already shining on them. These two love each other and it shows. Even with First Baptist’s “big room” feel, their vows seemed intimate…maybe just between friends.
Vows, kissing, more photos with family, champagne toast, back in the limo and off… …to shoot a few formals before their official re-introduction as husband and wife!
Fratello’s, as it turns out, is an excellent location for an afternoon reception. Our newlyweds clearly enjoy the company of great friends and family. The dance floor was alive with a fun, vibrant (and completely unselfconscious) mix of people! That’s the kind of thing that makes our job a good time…that and a few frames we think are classics from the click of the shutter! Those don’t happen without the right light or without a couple of lovebirds newlyweds to stand in it. Let’s not forget…Fratello’s food was fantastic…the dessert was positively humbling!
Saturday went by in a flash (mostly at 1/125 second)…they always do when people are having a great time, the spirit of the day is animated…the weather rocked!…and two people just happened to have this beautiful wedding and we were there for it! …always an honor to be a part of something so special.

Any number of things can make or break a wedding day for a photographer. On Saturday all conditions conspired to deliver to Casey and Vanessa (and their photographers) a picture perfect evening. Steele Hill Resort provides a gorgeous backdrop for an evening wedding…the kind that makes memories and the sort that picture-people will talk about for years! A mid-summer’s evening light, a pleasantly clouded sky, Winnisquam as a backdrop and two beautiful newlyweds brought out so many beautiful formal photos that we sorta wanted to blow off the reception until the sky went dark! Vanessa was every bit the wedding model…the poise that others will turn to and say “I want THAT look”…and she was just as patient as could be for the photos, considering the hundred-plus guest waiting to greet them back inside the resort. Casey and the guys completed this handsome party with a summertime-formal, “breeze-in, breeze-out” charm, in both style and character!
Back inside the resort, the DJ of the evening, Mike from SplitPersonality kept people dancing and seriously kept things fun…lots of well-timed banter and a genuine connection with the people he was entertaining!…another one of those little tidbits that make a photographer’s job fun… …people that dance! Vanessa and Casey have a super crowd of friends and family! The dance floor was packed from the get-go…everybody up and gyrating, even the littlest partiers!
Not only did Steele Hill provide a beautiful backdrop for a wonderful wedding ceremony…they’re to be commended for friendly staff and an absolutely stellar meal!… honestly, how many times do you really want seconds of your wedding dinner? Again,…cheers to the resort.
At this point, Vanessa and Casey are enjoying their honeymoon and the first days of the next chapter of their life together. We’re looking over our favorite shots of the evening and thinking well of our bride and groom. They gave us a fantastic day with pictures that we can be thrilled to say we made, and thrilled to deliver…and we wish them all the best in marriage!

Shelley is a Professional Photographer and is also part of a photography group in Buffalo, NY. Shelley organized the whole event. I also have to give credit to the two models, they are Guy William and Margot Lane. Well without further delay here are the photos.
