What a special wedding for me to capture… Andrew and I are old friends from public school and reconnected a few years ago when our parents ran into each other. We’ve kept in touch via email, had dinner together when I was in Ottawa a few years ago and I was absolutely delighted when he contacted me to let me know that he was engaged and wanted me to photograph the wedding! There are no words to describe what a wonderful weekend this was – Kim and Andrew made their wedding celebration so perfectly them, and incorporated many of their passions into the celebration allowing friends & family to experience their idea of a perfect Muskoka weekend! This included morning yoga on the dock, rock climbing, canoeing, (Eric and I had a great time taking Iris out in her first canoe ride!) and topping it off with a Scottish Ceilidh for the dancing!
The day before the wedding, they let me in on a little secret – that Kim was about 16 weeks pregnant and they’d be announcing it at the reception! It truly felt like their was magic in the air photographing them at sunset, newly married with a baby on the way – so much love, the whole weekend felt like a big hug
Thanks so much for having me be a part of your big day – it was an amazing weekend that I’ll never forget! xo!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: rustic, elegant, fun, casual, outdoors!
What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Being able to celebrate such an amazing day with my close friends and family. Knowing that everyone is there to support you is an overwhelming but amazing feeling. Seeing Vince for the first time at my parent’s house. We also both loved the wedding speeches.
Groom: Seeing Jenny for the first time. Celebrating our special day with all my friends and family. The pyramid
Best wedding related decision: To have the wedding outside on the patio at the Inn at the Falls – the weather was absolutely perfect and the large trees around the patio provided shade for all the guests and looked beautiful.
Favourite detail: Having the Chinese Tea Ceremony directly following the wedding ceremony for all of the guests to see. We involved both sides of the family in the Tea Ceremony and it was a nice way to blend both of our cultures. Also, the cake and cupcakes that my cousin baked for us and the fan guest favors, which were stamped with our Chinese names.
Advice for future brides & grooms: Take a minute with just the two of you to absorb all the excitement and don’t sweat the small details – everything will work out!
Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? No!

Michelle and Jeff celebrated their wedding over two days which included a very intimate church ceremony and a big party with all of their loved ones. There were some surprises throughout the day like torrential rain and a spectacular surprise salsa dance from the new happy couple. I am so glad Michelle and Jeff stuck with us in the rain for some beautiful photos!

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less: Personalized – very ‘us’
What are you favorite memories of your wedding day?
Bride: Hearing everyone laugh as Chud walked out to ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’
Groom: The ‘big reveal’ of seeing Katy for the first time and our first dance
Best wedding related decision: Doing things ourselves (flowers, music, table runners, boutonnieres, baking, etc.).
Favourite detail: Boutonnieres and Comic Book themed table markers
Advice for future brides & grooms: Only spend money on what’s important to you. Wedding costs add up so quickly, prioritize what means the most to you and spend on that.
Would you change anything if you could do it all over again? The weather- we had it in October to avoid the summer heat, but it ended up being 25 degrees anyway.
Best surprise of the day: How good Chud looked in a kilt. I had been against the kilt from the very beginning, but have to admit, they looked good in the end.
Favorite HRM picture from the day (and why?):
Chud: Number 182 where I am reading the comic book where Spider-Man marries Mary Jane Watson and Katy is reading the Archivist’s Story. The photo perfectly reflects our personalities.
Katy: Number 296 which was taken outside the church right before the ceremony. It was such a beautiful moment between the two of us after everyone else had gone inside the church.
VENDORS: Ceremony Location: Forest Hill United Church | Reception Location: Steam Whistle Brewery | Cake: None! We had ice cream sandwiches (WAY BETTER) | Dress (designer and/or store): Davids Bridal | Flowers/Decorator: Bride | Hair/Makeup: Eduarda at Salvatore Leonetti | Caterer: En Ville | DJ: Groom | Invites: Ilanit Shohat of Shohat Designs | Sound, lighting: Pandor
WEDDING SONGS: First Dance: Gangsta Luv GMix – Snoop Dogg and Mayer Hawthorne | Parent Dances: I’m Telling You Now – Keb Mo’

I loved all the little post it-love notes around this couple’s apartment!
