33,000 Flags on Boston Common 2012-05-24

 Melida Arredondo plants flags including one in honor of her step-son Marine L/Cpl Alex Arrendondo who was killed in action on August 25, 2004 in Iraq.
33,000 American flags have been placed on Boston Common this Memorial Day weekend to commemorate each of the Massachusetts military service members who died in active duty since the Civil War. (more...)

Anime Boston 2012 Portraits 2012-04-08

 I had borrowed a friend's studio kit this weekend for a photo shoot I was doing and thought afterwards I'd take the opportunity of bringing the kit to this weekend's 2012 Anime Boston Convention for some nice portraits of the costumes and characters there. It was so much fun, not only because I don't get that many chances to shoot studio work anymore but because my subjects were really into it. Take a look at my shots. Saint Stan's Reopens 2012-04-04

After parishioners held a vigil for 1150 days, Saint Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church in North Adams, Massachusetts celebrated its first mass on Palm Sunday April 1, 2012. The church was closed in December of 2008 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield and recently ordered reopened by the Vatican.
I had covered the vigil over the years, even sleeping in the church along with the vigilers. When I got word that their efforts had paid off and the church was going to be reopened I felt I of course had to be there for their first mass. (more...)
