Joy is a rock star photographer. She captures THE most amazing, creative, breathtaking, once in a life time shots. She's professional, fun and uber creative. We've had sibling photo shoots for the past 3 years with her and it's always a blast! Our parents cry every time they see the pictures and slideshows.

Fearrington Village Wedding | Cait and Jared 2012-01-20

In the months leading up to Cait and Jared’s wedding, I had so much fun helping Cait with a few of the details. I loved hearing all of Cait’s brilliant ideas to make their wedding unique and special for them. She did an amazing job putting together a wedding in four months, and down to the last detail, everything was beautiful. I think just a few hours were spent on Pinterest, pinning away!!

The day started with everyone getting ready at Fearrington Village, just steps away from where the ceremony and reception would be held. It is so nice to have everything within a moments walk. I love Cait’s lace, Priscila of Boston Gown, her grandmothers fur stole (tailored to fit Cait perfectly!) and the “Mrs. Bauer” hanger. So many great details to start the day off!

We had a perfect Fall day for an outoor wedding. As guests arrived they were greeted by Cait’s nephews, handing out wedding programs. The ladies had the option to take a pashmina to keep warm, should it get chilly. Cait thought of everything! The ceremony was beautiful and they involved their mothers in a “sand ceremony”. There were such sweet moments between Cait and Jared, I think they were a little incredulous that they day had actually arrived, after the whirlwind of wedding planning!

Post ceremony we quickly moved on to family and bridal party pictures. The sun was dipping over the horizon at a rapid pace, and we had fun moving quickly to capture everything. I could have spent hours more with Cait and Jared, they are such a striking, beautiful couple, and they have so much fun together. I love seeing them interact and make each other laugh.

The reception was a dreamy rustic barn setting with twinkly lights, lanterns, gorgeous tables and burlap details. I love the Fearrington Barn. It is a perfect mix of elegant, rustic and touch of vintage. The night was spent dancing away, a little “icing” for a few of the groomsmen, lap dances for the bride and groom (!!!!!!!!!)…and the sweetest, funniest toasts by Cait’s Dad, and Jared’s Dad (best man). There wasn’t a dry eye after either speech!

Before the night ended, I headed outside with Cait and Jared for a few night shots. Again, twinkly lights always make a perfect backdrop. We had fun with the sparkler/night shot. One more time Jared, just one more time! He wanted to get back to dancing!!

I have loved working with Cait and Jared to capture their beautiful moments, and am so happy to have ended up with new friends :) You two are awesome!

Brier Creek County Club Wedding | Brooke and Wesley 2012-01-09

There has obviously been a huge gap in my blog posts, and I am way behind on posting the last few fabulous weddings of 2011. All I can say is that the Holidays got to me, completely 100% took over my life. The last two months have been a mad rush leading up to our Christmas Eve departure for Chicago. But January, ahhh January, will be a month of wrapping up 2011 blog posts and looking ahead to 2012. I am so excited for this year and have plenty of fun sessions coming up!

Brooke and Wes are the sweetest couple. The kind of couple that at the end of the wedding day, we shouted our goodbyes and said “let’s have dinner once you get back from your honeymoon!”. We haven’t had dinner yet, but soon. Their wedding day was a picture perfect Fall day. We couldn’t have asked for better weather (in November!) and the colors were stunning.

They did a “first look” which I am so happy about… We were able to get all of the bridal party pictures and family pictures done, which was key because they had several of their nieces and nephews in the wedding. It is always best to get the pictures with the children done first! But we also had a short bit of time around sunset for pictures of just Wes and Brooke and we had fun with those!!

If you remember their engagement session, you will remember the tandem bike that they used. I love how they incorporated the tandem bicycle theme, from their invitations, programs, candy table and my favorite part….Brooke found an artist on etsy that drew a tandem bicycle and guests used their thumbprints for the guest book. A very colorful, and unique idea for a guest book.

They used sparklers for their exit, and we snuck away from the reception with Wes and Brooke for a few fun pictures with sparklers. I had Jamie running circles around Wes and Brooke for a long exposure with a few sparklers…it turned out quite well!

So happy for you Wes and Brooke! You two are such a fun couple and we look forward to dinner one day soon!

Raleigh Engagement Photography | Lindsay and Jamie 2011-11-07

It all started at the Little Brown Jug in Smithfield. Both Jamie and Lindsay were there to celebrate a mutual friends birthday. They didn’t know each other…but a little while into the festivities, Lindsay noticed that this guy (Jamie) would not stop staring at her. She went right up to him and wanted to know why he was watching her from a distance. They struck up a conversation…talked for a while, and that was all that came of it, for a little while anyways. Two months later, Lindsay called him up and wanted to know how he was doing…and they start dating. Fast forward a little bit, and Jamie is getting ready to propose on Ocracoke Island. He had it all planned out…but the weather had other plans. So in the howling wind and rain, after a bike ride that felt like they were pedaling against hurricane force winds…Jamie proposed! Lindsay said yes, and they are planning a May 2012 wedding!

We had such a great time with their engagement session… My Jamie came along to help with the pictures, so it was quite funny when I would shout out “Hey Jamie!”.

Can’t wait until May you two!

Raleigh Maternity Photographer | Kristi and Ryan 2011-11-04

We have had some pretty beautiful Fall days lately, I love that we are into November and still have gorgeous colors lingering. I am also hoping that warm temperatures show up for my Sunday wedding this weekend!!

I met up with Kristi, Ryan and their cute dog Remington two weeks ago…they are expecting a little boy in December! I made them traipse through all sorts of long grass fields, which Remington thoroughly enjoyed, and it was perfect for pictures. I do love a good field! It was a great setting to go along with their cowboy boots…they are from Texas, and wanted to incorporate a little feeling from home. They also brought little boots for the baby! I love the picture of their boots all lined up.

I am pretty sure their little boy will arrive with blue eyes, how could he not? Both his mommy and daddy have the most amazing blue eyes! I cannot wait to meet him!

Raleigh Engagement Photographer | Jessica and Nathan 2011-10-21

Jessica saw Nathan across the room in a bar in Florida. She thought he looked like a nice guy, and that he needed someone to chat with. Several hours later, they were still chatting. And thus started their relationship. A boy from Oklahoma, and a girl from Tennessee, end up in Raleigh North Carolina. Not too long ago, Nathan made up a story about volunteering to help with a hot air balloon launch, he convinced Jessica of this story. They show up for this hot air balloon launch, and once Jessica realizes that they are the only ones on the “team of volunteers”, she knew something was up. Up Up and away they went…and Nathan proposed high in the sky. Jessica said yes, and this love story continues…

They are getting married out of State, and wanted engagement session pictures taken here in Raleigh. Which is where I come in! I met Nathan, Jessica and their cute dog Katie Bell on a perfectly gorgeous day two weeks ago, we had a great time at E. Carroll Joyner Park, and the fun lasted well past sunset. I love the orange and pink sky that we had…who could resist a few killer silhouette photos?!

I loved meeting you Jessica and Nathan! You are such a fun couple, I love the way you interact with one another and how you make each other laugh. Best wishes for your future!
