Austin Wedding Photographer | Modern DIY Wedding at the W Hotel + Allan House 2012-05-21

I’ve always said it’s the couple that makes the wedding. When a bride + groom put their individual touches into the details of their day, it’s always special. Wenny + Stephen poured their hearts + souls into this wedding. I’m so happy I had the privilege to be there! These two choose to have a destination wedding right here in Austin. They currently live in New York (check out their fun Lower East Side engagement session here) and wanted to come back to the place they met. With so many amazing DIY details, this wedding has a modern, artistic edge. The bride + groom began the day with a traditional tea ceremony at The W Hotel in downtown Austin and later moved to The Allan House for the modern wedding ceremony. It was heartwarming to see all of their family + friends celebrate them.

Austin Wedding Photographers | Claire + John | Hill Country Engagement 2012-05-11

So I may or may not have backed my car into a tree at Claire + John’s engagement session. Hey, sometimes I get excited when we are loosing light . Ah…oh well. It was worth it to get these shots. We had a blast hanging out in the Texas Hill Country for their session. John is actually the brother of a former client, Lee who married Jessica at Mercury Hall. It’s always exciting to know that I will get to see old friends. Despite a few hiccups with the wedding date changing, Claire + John will wed at the fabulous Star Hill Ranch next year. It’s going to be a good one I just know it! ps…Claire is such a beauty!

If you were in Austin this past weekend, I’m pretty sure you were busy having a blast! There was so much going on with Cinco de Mayo, Pecan Street Festival, a few hundred races. Just kidding…I think there were two. For me, it was all about Wenny + Stephen. They came all the way from NYC and were married at the Allan House. Our day started off at the W Hotel in downtown Austin. Here is one of my favorite frames from their wedding day photos. More to come!

Austin Wedding Photographer | Cedar Bend Events | Lisa + Frank 2012-05-01

You know what I love about weddings? Each one is different and unique in its own way. Take Frank + Lisa’s wedding at Cedar Bend Events in Lost Pines, TX, for example. These guys had a laid back casual day beginning with a traditional tea ceremony with their family followed by the wedding ceremony with all of their friends. Sounds like a typical wedding, right? Then the drag queen showed up. Yep, that’s right! One of Austin’s finest took her spin on the dance floor singing some of your favorite Top 40 tunes. It was crazy. It was fun! That’s all that matters. Remember to enjoy your wedding and don’t take it too seriously. That’s a good lesson to carry along in life too don’t you think?
