The Edison & Ford Winter Estates is a timeless venue for wedding photography in Fort Myers. There’s something so simple, yet elegant, about the romantic gardens, beautiful Caloosahatchee River views, the historic Edison Ford homes and numerous outdoor wedding ceremony locations. It’s one of the few venues that is able to transport you to a time in Fort Myers’ historic past and Olde Florida. To a time when the photograph and the phonograph were the latest technologies.
With the exception of the Caretaker’s House, we walked (and rode in a golf cart) to just about every location the Edison and Ford Winter Estates had to offer. All of these locations including: Mina’s Moonlight Garden, Edison’s Coconut Grove, Ford’s Riverside Lawn, and Royal Palm Alleé, make for wonderful wedding photographs. While we frequently see the bride and groom head directly to the central Mysore Fig Tree as their photographic wedding backdrop, we took Brittany and Ryan to giant Fig tree nestled in Edison’s Garden as you’ll see in the photos below.
Located at 2350 McGregor Boulevard Fort Myers, FL 33901, the Edison & Ford Winter Estates offers acres of historical buildings, historic gardens, the Edison Botanic Research Lab and the Edison Ford Museum. However, nothing is more memorable than your own wedding at the site.

While there are many Wedding Photographers photographing on Fort Myers Beach on any given weekend, there can be only one wedding at Lovers Key State Park. I guess that’s what makes weddings at the Lovers Key Beach so unique — it feels like you, your guests and an entire secluded beach of your own, yet, with the large beach gazebo, you can have your wedding cake and eat it too! I’m not sure what the exact size of the gazebo is, but there is enough room for over 50 guests, a dance floor, and your band or DJ, letting you move from ceremony on the beach to reception in style all in one great spot. The full bar is located just outside.

Have you been to Boca Grande? Let us take you there with some of our Boca Grande Wedding Photography on Gasparilla Island.
I’m certain that some photographers like the consistency of the same venue week after week, however, this photographer loves the variety of locations Lee County Florida provides for destination weddings. Boca Grande certainly is a great location for wedding photography! From the moment we arrived on Gasparilla Island, we could tell, with the many photographic qualities, this was the perfect place for a getaway wedding in Southwest Florida.
Boca Grande is on the Gulf of Mexico, about 60 miles from Fort Myers. It was about an hour and a half drive — by car. If you’re fortunate enough to have a boat, the ride would probably be about 30 to 45 minutes from Captiva Island. Our drive took us from Lee County, into Charlotte County, and then back into Lee.
In many respects, Boca Grande is reminiscent of Olde Florida. The giant trees on Banyan Street provide a canopy which begs you to walk under them, there’s a picture-perfect, old lighthouse at Gasparilla Island State Park, a stay at the historic Gasparilla Inn located at 500 Palm Ave, Boca Grande, FL 33921 (operating since 1913), and beautiful white beaches with true-blue waters from which to watch unbelievable sunsets — sounds like a perfect place for a perfect destination wedding to me!
There are too many other Boca locations to list, but if you looking for a great place for your wedding portraits, Sam Murphy Park should not be missed. Photography at this little hidden gem, whether on the shaded grass or by the babbling fountain, will give your Boca Grande wedding photographer lots of options. Some of Ashten and Nathaniel’s wedding photos below were taken at Sam Murphy Park. They are a truly lovely couple whom I wish a long, happy, love-filled life together. Enjoy!
