Porirua installs the first earthquake safety valves in New Zealand 2012-05-08

This is a new type of protection for the cities water supply spurned on by the Christchurch earthquakes. Like a ball joint in a 4WD car, these joints allow for movement between the reservoir and the water pipeline, both of which remain inflexible. (more...)
