Vanessa + Griffin + Maddie + June :: family fun session 2012-05-22

We were thrilled to hear from Vanessa. It had been about four years since Mike had first photographed their family when Maddie was the same age as June. It is wonderful to see how children change and even more fun to see the similarities between siblings.

One thing is for sure – their smiles are infectious and those eyes …THOSE eyes … love them!

Sara + Eliot :: engaged 2012-05-18

Sara + Eliot’s engagement session was really exciting for us since we spent most of our time shooting around their historic Frank Lloyd Wright home. I have always been such a huge fan of Wright, so seeing one of his homes was really a unique experience, especially hearing some of the history behind it.

Just for fun, Sara + Eliot wanted to make a sort of flip book for their wedding – life is always more fun when you skip.

andrea + adam :: expecting 2012-05-10

I’ve been so excited about this session since the second it started. Andrea is one of Mike’s cousins and one of the NICEST people that you will ever meet. Last Halloween we received an email announcing that Andrea and Adam were expecting with a hilarious picture of their jack-o-lanterns. Truly perfect for the two of them considering their love of Halloween. It made me pause though – how can Andrea be pregnant? Isn’t she still 16? I had to do some math and figured out that I first met Andrea when she was 10, the same age that our oldest son is now. Ouch…feeling old here. :)  I think this makes this session that more significant to me. I simply cannot wait to meet their baby soon to join this world – hopefully on my Birthday.

Susan + Mike :: celebrating 30 years together – just for fun! 2012-05-04

Liz, a bride from last year wanted to surprise her parents for their anniversary with one of our Just For Fun sessions. Susan + Mike, and well – their entire family, are simply wonderful. These two, after so many years, are amazing. Their love for each other jumped through the lens at us. Taking the time to acknowledge this still very strong connection is incredibly important. Our lives are so busy and I think sometimes we just go through the day to day. Its essential to stop, take a moment to look at the one you love and truly acknowledge your commitment and love for one another. Its even better when someone can capture that moment for you. I am so glad that we were able to do that for Susan + Mike.

juliet + william :: a modern spring wedding in madison wi 2012-04-18

Weddings for second marriages have a totally different feel to them. It has been an incredibly long time since we have shot one. They are wonderful, low key and truly about friends and family. We loved how involved their children were. My favorite part of the ceremony (besides the presence of their dog) was having their children help light the unity candle. It was very sweet.

The grounds of the Holy Wisdom Monestary were amazing considering it was March. Behind the Monastery is an incredibly old apple orchard, complete with gnarled trees that were in bloom that made it magical. After the ceremony we sped over to Steenbock’s on Orchard for some seriously amazing food and conversation. All in all, a truly fantastic day for William and Juliet. We were so honored to be their to document it.
