You've seen the stickers in the windows and on the doors of area businesses; it could be your drycleaner, where you buy your dog's food...the Chinese restaurant I go to has one. It's the "Best in Detroit" sticker, given to those companies in the metro area who have been recognized as the best at what they do, and we want one.
The good people at WDIV Detroit put this contest on every year; and for the past few years, Music Box has been nominated...we've done pretty well in the past, placing consistently toward the top. This year, we want to win. With your help, we can do it!
The fact that you're receiving this newsletter means you're a client and a friend. You've seen our DJs in action somewhere out there---at a party, a wedding, a local hot spot. You, your friends & your family commented on how great of a time you had that night...some of you are still talking about it. How awesome would it be to take that feeling of satisfaction & pride to the next level by saying that yes, your DJ Company was voted number one in Metro Detroit?!
Here's how to make it happen, it's pretty simple: email your family & friends this link:
http://wdiv.cityvoter.com/music-box-productions/biz/46882 , then vote for us. It's just that easy. For less than five minutes out of your day' you've gotten the DJ Company you were so proud of that much closer to being number one. You can also leave comments---how cool is that?
Thanks so much for choosing Music Box as your DJ Company & thanks in advance for your vote---it means so much to all of us!

This holiday season finds our economy falling short; like any business, charities feel the pinch. There are many charities always in need helping everyone and everything from animals to humans.
Prior to committing to a charity, it is in your best interest to know exactly whom you are donating to and exactly where your donation goes.
-Look for financially strong charities (Are you donating for the survival of the agency?)
-Investigate the charity’s outcomes (What percentage actually goes to those in need?)
-Check for evidence of questionable ethical practices
-Consider gifts to human services charities
These tips come from
http://www.charitynavigator.orgThis website along with
http://give.org (part of BBB),are your number one trusted resources when it comes to any kind of contribution.
To aide in your search, Fox 2 Detroit along with Gardner White have teamed up and together and have created a list, titled ‘Wish List’, which consists of nearly a hundred fully researched charities that service Southeastern Michigan.
You can view the list here:
http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/generic/entertainment/holiday_guide/2009_Detroit_Holiday_Connecti A lot of charities have simple ways to donate right online, a few of them being:
The Salvation Army
Toys for Tots
Capuchin Soup Kitchen
Humane SocietyC.O.T.S. Detroit My personal advice: Don’t try to be a super hero. If you want to help out financially, pick only one or two charities that mean the most to you and only donate what you can truly afford. I myself am a single father of two like many, funds are extremely tight, aside from meager donations of change here and there, I will be providing donations in the form of volunteering. There are as many ways to volunteer, as there are ways financially.
Here are a few ideas:
Salvation Army Bell Ringer, yes it’s cold out, but you get to ring a shiny bell,
meet new people and collect donations for those in need.
Volunteer times at a Food Bank, help sort food that the bank has received from donations such as can drives, and package it to be delivered.
One of my favorites, volunteer at a soup kitchen in your local area. To see the faces of people that you are helping and offer a warm friendly smile is priceless.
If time to volunteer and finances are unavailable, take a look around your house; are there any items that you don’t use anymore? This time of year is when many need help just keeping warm, blankets, jackets, snow pants, are all welcomed by many local agencies. With the devastating state of our economy, many people have found themselves at the bottom of a pit they cannot get out of. Whether you can afford to help financially, volunteer time, or donate items, always remember it doesn’t matter how big or small, it is the fact that you did something.

It in no way takes away from your party. Quite opposite, it adds a great element to your event. Everyone wins!
