If you need more stress and headache before your wedding use myregistry.com. We spent 8 hours putting together our registry 3-4 months before the wedding. Suddenly we are being bombarded with calls and emails because the purchase process is not working. It turns out many items have gone out of stock and they're supposed to notify you but we've only recieved notification on one item that's gone out of stock, but apparently lots of what we picked is now out of stock. What is more confusing is the person purchasing gets a prompt asking if they purchased the item. If they say yes, they are taken to another screen that asks if they want to add a card. They say yes. The prompt is over and they are sitting on the homepage of the store making them wonder what happened to the next step of the purchase. Worse, they go to the site and it shows that the item has been purchased and is no longer available. When the purchase process works, this prompt is a survey to track what has been purchased on the site or in the store, but the use of past tense is extremely confusing especially since the survey is given before the item can even be purchased. Lots of bugs to be worked out on this site before they should be offering up to people who want their sanity intact on the wedding day.
MyRegistry.com says:

Hello Geoffrey,

We are sorry to hear that you experienced some confusion using your gift list. It is our goal to ensure that your experience with us is the best so we want to reach out to you in response to your post here on Momentville.com.

MyRegistry.com is a universal gift registry service which allows you to add gifts from ANY retailer in the world including World Market, Ikea, and West Elm. If your guests are directed to an item that is no longer available, they can indicate it in our Did you Buy this Gift window, by selecting ‘No, the item was unavailable’. (which will generate an automatic notification email to you).
When items are unavailable or out of stock, some retailers will remove the web pages from their site and default to their Home page. When this happens your guests will need to answer No in the Did you Buy this Gift window and they will then be given a prompt to Return to your registry. If your guest selects Yes to any of the three Yes options, they will be given a few choices: to send a Gift Announcement Ecard to you, return to your registry, or mark other gifts as purchased.

We took a look at your account and have sent you a direct email providing you with more detailed information on the items you have registered for that are no longer available. Please feel free to contact us at assistance@myregistry.com or by phone at 201-363-0131. Our orders department is also available to your guests for assistance by phone, toll free at 855-855-6363 (M-F, 9-6pm EST).

Thank you for your time and understanding, Geoffrey!

This site is amazing! I especially love the "add to my registry" icon - which i use to add stuff from all over the internet! I also love the link and sync. There is simply no reason to use any other registery - now I have everything under one registry. I use this site all of the time!

I must admit, it was all a little confusing at first (Im not the most computer savvy person). However, their customer service was flawless! I emailed them and received a response fairly quickly outlining the steps i needed to take to get started and how their service works. If you are confused try watching the VERY HELPFUL VIDEOS they have on how to use thier service as a member and a guest.

It is impossible for a guest to order a gift without downloading a Microsoft.Net program, a process that takes 2 1/2 hours! This website is not at all user friendly!

I agree with m0m0: From a wedding guest's perspective, myregistry.com is a real disappointment.

I thought using an online registry was a cute and creative way to give to my friend's honeymoon fund as a wedding gift. I was slightly annoyed that the website charged about $4 to add money to the couple's fund, but it was clearly noted by the website. The surprise came as I opened my credit card bill this month to find an additional $10 "cash advance" fee as well as a "finance fee." Nowhere was this mentioned on the website that my purchase would be treated as a "cash advance" when I made the purchase. I really feel fleeced by the whole experience. Had I known about all of these charges, I would have skipped myregistry.com and put a check in the mail to my friend with my gift and the extra $20 I spent to use my credit card on this website.

this registry sucks. no phone contact everything is via email or mail. made an order through the web, the purchase went through and charges you 5 bucks for processing. then when i got my credit card statement, stupid myregistry charged it as cash advance and that is like another 20 dollars charge.

They didn't say that it would be charged as cash advance, stupid website, no support, nobody to talk to. this website sucks.

if you don't want to be hit by unfortold charged, avoid at all cost!

I don't know...I had a decent experience with MyRegistry.com. The one thing I didn't like was the homepage because the Find a Registry was not apparent but their home page looks less cluttered now so that's good. (Still needs work though) I think that the major issue seems to be duplicate gifts. I had one item purchased thrice but you know what --this was the fault of my guests because one never went back to the registry to mark the item and another x-ed out of the Did You Buy Window which obviously causes a lot of confusion.

It seems like MyRegistry.com is for people who know how to use a computer, not older relatives or people with minimal skills and no online shopping experience. Their customer care was also very helpful with all my issues and fixed them immediately so I am thankful for that. Anyway, the site is free and worth a shot if you can't decide on a one store registry.

Despite the fact that I read many poor reviews about myregistry.com, I still decided to make a wedding registry with them because I really wanted the convenince. Well boy, I made a big mistake. I had guests from New Orleans and California and not one of them were able to get me gifts off my registry. People ended up having to buy them in stores and of course we received many duplicates. I just don't understand how it is supposed to make things easier when it is so confusing and all over the place. I mean just look at their site, it's a mess. Not simple whatsoever.

I agree completely. It took so much stress off my wedding planning to just be able to sit down and add any item I wanted from anywhere. I recommend this site for anyone -- even if you don't have a wedding, but a baby or graduation/birthday coming up!

I've tried several online registries, including Wishpot and Bridal Guide Registry, but My Registry gives you the most space for notes about your gifts, interfaces with Facebook, and has a more elegant welcome page. As with other online registries, you can add gifts from any online store, there's a toolbar button you can install, and you can add offline gifts. The overall design is more adult than the kitchy themes that others offer.
