Hello and thanks for stopping by this blog. I'd like to start this blog off by telling you a little about OnSite Photography and how we approach shooting special events/weddings. I've been shooting weddings and special events for about 20 years. In the late 1990's quite a bit of my work was featured on covers of various trade publications. Some time ago I decided to make a business of it. My partner is my daughter Caitlin. She began helping me when she was in middle school. She's now 22 and will be graduating from college in 2009.
Our approach to shooting your special day is probably a little different than most photographers. This is more than a business to us. We believe that we are creating a future family heirloom. Most families will cherish their photographs for years to come. We feel that this is more of a responsibility and we don't take any shooting assignment lightly. We go the extra mile for our clients to make sure that they get the best possible photos. For example, if necessary we will meet our client (usually a bride) on location before the event to go over all the details so that nothing's lost or compromised. We offer all of our clients access to our online planning site. It contains detailed checklists that not only help with planning for the photos but also planning & timelines for the event. After all you've put alot of time into planning for your special day. and we want to make sure that every detail is captured. we understand that we cannot have a "do over" and everything has to be right the first time. I like to put it this way: When our customers look good, we look good. One more thing, I've talked a lot about weddings. We do alot of them but it's not all we do.

Several months ago I met with a very nice, attractive couple. They had planned to have both their wedding ceremony and wedding reception at one location, at a private residence in Clinton Township Michigan. They booked their wedding photography with us. A couple of weeks before the wedding the bride phoned me, to go over the time line and wedding photography. She said that their plans had changed and that they would have a church wedding, at a Catholic Church in Utica Michigan, and then go to the residence in Clinton Township for a second wedding ceremony. I asked why a second wedding ceremony was added and she said it was something about the priest not being able to perform the Catholic wedding ceremony at the residence. (The second wedding ceremony was the only one that was originally planned.) She was concerned that the time spelled out in the photography contract wouldn't cover both the church, private residence wedding ceremonies and reception. We talked for a while about the wedding photography time line & both ceremonies, and I told her not to worry and agreed to cover both wedding ceremonies and reception for her, at no additional cost. I didn't want the bride to be disappointed on her wedding day. I really felt that it was important to photograph both wedding ceremonies. The day of the wedding arrived, and Caitlin went along with me as a second shooter. This was truly the most unique wedding ceremony/reception that we have ever shot.
We started the day with a small but elegant church wedding ceremony in Utica Michigan.

After the Catholic Church ceremony we were off to the second wedding ceremony at the private residence. Residence is an understatement, it was more of an estate. I was told that it was 15 acres.
Here's a photo of a portion of the grounds.
Here's a few shots of just how the bride got from the house to the gazebo:
The horse drawn carriage took the bride from the main house to the gazebo. You really didn't expect her to walk almost 1/4 mile in heels did you?
The second wedding ceremony was more informal and laid back than the first.
The gazebo was surrounded by a beautiful garden and they were a very attractive couple, which made our work easy.

It always amazes me the work a bride will put into the little details that most people won't see on her big day.

After the gazebo wedding ceremony we were off to the reception. I thought that they would have had the reception inside the main house or on the grounds. Boy was I wrong. The reception was held in the garages.

That's right the garages. They were tented over & converted into an elegant banquet hall.

It was a hot day in Clinton Township Michigan, but it was very cool inside the tented over garages. They really had the a/c going. This has to be of the most elegant venue I have worked in, and it was a garage. It definitely didn't look like a garage for the wedding reception. It was truly a pleasure to shoot this wedding.
A beautiful Michigan bride and her groom.
Congratulations Kim & Chris

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Most brides tell us that the day passed by as a blur and due to high emotions, nervousness and a flurry of friends, family and other well wishers, they remember very little about the details of the wedding day itself. Most of them tell us that they they count on us, their wedding photographers, to capture all the special moments of the day that represent so many months of planning and preparation.
One of our goals as wedding photographers is to offer a selection of high quality, affordable wedding albums to properly display wedding photos. It's difficult to describe our wedding albums to potential clients who call or email us. As the saying goes,
one picture is worth a thousand words, so I've decided to put one of our actual wedding albums on this blog, as part of our wedding portfolio, to give future bridal couples an idea of what we're talking about. This particular wedding album is called a Tuscany Album. This Michigan wedding was photographed in the Detroit Metro area in 2007. The bride is an RN who works at one of the Metro Detroit hospitals.
So Here is a Look At Tara's wedding album.

Above in page 1 separate photos of the bride and groom.

Page 2 is the groom and some of his family.

Page 3 Bride with bride's maid & matron of honor along with a photo with parents.

Here's the mother of the bride helping the bride get ready.

Most bridal couples do not want to see each other before the wedding. Here, they actually are on opposite sides of a doorway and can not see each other. We have a very nervous bride and a smiling groom.

The wedding ceremony begins with the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom being escorted down the aisle. They then light the unity candle. Notice the image of the groom, it's his first look at his bride.

Here's the bride being escorted down the aisle by her father.

This is called a panoramic and is 2 pages combined. Most brides feel that one or two well placed panoramic pages adds some interest to the wedding album.

More wedding ceremony photography.
Every wedding album should contain a photo of the first kiss.
The bride and groom have been introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Wedding ceremonies are very emotional, and it is not uncommon for the bride to shed a tear or two.

Next come wedding party photos.

More wedding party photos.

We always like to do a few bridal portraits after the wedding ceremony. This Michigan bride looks beautiful.
Most brides want some fun shots after the formal photos and bridal portraits.
Bride and groom in the car.

Bride and groom at the reception hall. We always like to include a photo of the wedding rings.

Even the wedding cake has special details that the bride will want to remember.

The grooms says a few words before dinner.

What wedding album would be complete without photos of friends and family?

The photo in the upper left is my favorite.
If you're wondering, Tara chose a blue cover and binding for her wedding album.
Congratulations Ralph and Tara.

As I stated in an earlier post, your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Despite months of meticulous planning of the wedding ceremony and reception, our brides tell us that their wedding day passed by like a blur due to high emotions, nervousness, and a flurry of friends, family and other well wishers. They remeber very little about the details of their wedding day. Our job as your Michigan Wedding Photographer is to capture all the details and special moments of the wedding day.
After the shooting is done, one of our goals as your Michigan wedding photographer is to offer a selection of high quality, affordable wedding albums. We believe that your wedding album will become a cherished family heirloom. We do not have a set wedding album design, or a one size fits all style. Each wedding album is custom designed for each bride. We invite your input in the design of your wedding album. It is difficult to describe with words exactly how one of our wedding albums will look to a prospective client who calls or emails. As the saying goes one picture is worth a thousand words, so here are pages from an actual Michigan wedding album. Hopefully this will give bridal couples a better idea of what one of our wedding albums looks like. This particular wedding album is a 10x10, 32 side Tuscany album. This is only one of a large selection of contemporary and traditional wedding albums that we offer.
These album pages are from the Michigan Fairy Tale Wedding.
