The big top circus is back! The circus brings back such fun childhood memories and we tried to capture that in this brightly colored 1st birthday cupcake tower. The topper includes a circus tent topper cake with white and red stripes along with a number “1″ and smaller yellow flag.

Jungle Safari Dessert Table
Using our animal kingdom birthday cake as inspiration, we created an entire animal themed dessert table for a 1st birthday party this weekend.

Animal Kingdom Birthday Cake
The 2 tier topsy turvy cake is the centerpiece for the dessert table and includes 3 animal print balloon cutouts to match the decor of the birthday party decorations. The top tier is covered in green fondant with polka dots. The front of the tier includes a cute stitched chocolate brown monkey along with a elephant at the base and a lion at the top. The entire cake was pistachio with pistachio buttercream.
The animal prints on the balloons included zebra/tiger print, cheetah/leopard print and giraffe. The cake includes white, blue, purple, green, orange and chocolate brown.

Zebra Print Cookies
Cookies included letters for the birthday boy’s name and number one’s for the first birthday. The cookies were covered in a mix of colors to match the cake and the overall color scheme of the party. Similar to the balloons on the cake, we included the same animal prints on the cookies.

Animal Cupcakes
Along with the cookies and cake, we included a dozen coconut cupcakes with vanilla buttercream dyed green to matcht he cake. Each cupcake included fondant cutout animal face to match cake. Animals included a lion, zebra, tiger, monkey, elephant and giraffe.
As we also try to do every week, here’s a video of the dessert table:

Sweet 16 Masquerade Cake
Tara reached out to us last year inquiring about us helping create a sweet 16 cake for her daughter’s masquerade ball themed birthday party. She had seen our sweet 16 cake gallery and wanted us to create a topsy turvy cake incorporating the main colors from the party – red, black and silver.
Starting at the top we decorated the cake with red sugar roses and a standing sparkly silver rolled gumpaste number “16″. The top tier was covered in black fondant with the ever popular silver zebra print. The base of the tier included a silver fondant mask with red and black scroll designs.
The second tier of the cake was covered in red fondant with silver polka dots and Kaitlyn’s name in black. The base of the tier was accented with sugar roses and alternating silver, red and black fondant balls.

Sweet 16 Cake
The third tier was decorated with silver fondant and black zebra print while the final tier was covered in red fondant with black and silver fondant swirls. Another black fondant mask with a red feather highlights the bottom of the cake.
Flavors and fillings included red velvet cake with vanilla Italian meringue buttercream, vanilla with one layer of oreos and cream and one layer of chocolate buttercream, and chocolate with oreos and cream buttercream. We delivered the cake to the Panther Valley Club in NJ.

Snow Leopard Birthday Cake
Chris reached out to us and asked if we could design a special cake for his wife Christine’s 40th birthday. Christine is a veterinarian who loves cats. Years ago, she did some work at the Cape May Zoo, and loves animals of all types.
Of all the animals, her favorite is the Snow Leopard. In addition, she is a huge fan of the show Deadliest Catch and loves everything about crabs including crab fishing and eating crabs. As Chris said, crabs in the theme is an absolute must!

Snow Leopard cake with crab in his mouth
So we worked with Chris to combine two of his wife’s favorite things – a snow leopard and crabs into the theme of the cake. The result was this sitting snow leopard holding a Tanner snow crab in his mouth. Chris provided us images for both the crab cake and leopard to help us ensure the likeness was accurate. (With this wife being a veterinarian we were worried she would spot any inaccuracies
)
Inside the cat is banana with 2 layers of chocolate buttercream and one layer of hazelnut buttercream. We delivered the cake to the Stone Bar Inn in Stroudsburg, PA.

Back of Snow Leopard Cake
We received this wonderful Facebook comment from Christine and are thrilled she enjoyed the cake. What a great testimonial. Thanks Christine!
There are no words I can adequately use to tell you how beautiful this cake was. I hated to even cut it, but since I am a veterinarian, I was tasked with making that first incision! It was beyond MY dream cake – being a big cat lover – notably snow leopards..and being a HUGE Deadliest Catch fan. My dream bday cake would have cats/crabs but this was beyond anything in my head. The detail on the cat and the crab are stunning. Your work is amazing !!! AND the cake was delicious – banana with hazelnut and chocolate fillings. EVERYONE was impressed. You are amazingly talented artists!
Update: Chris left what is perhaps the BEST testimonial we’ve ever received! What a gracious couple and we are grateful and flattered for his feedback!
Many many thanks to Allison for her patience with me during the ordering process. I spent time researching the Internet for a quality cake designer, but the few I found within 100 miles were unable to accommodate the relatively short notice (just over a month). However, I was wowed by the artistry I witnessed in the Pink Cake Box gallery. I sent them an email request and Allison contacted me the next day.
Given Anne’s background and experience, I was thrilled that they were willing to help me surprise Christine for her birthday. I spent a few days hashing out what exactly I should get in terms of size, shape, theme, and flavors. Allison guided me along and for that I am grateful.
When we arrived at the Stone Bar Inn for the party, Christine thought there was a stuffed animal snow leopard on the bar. When her friends told her to look at her cake, she freaked out!
Not having had a chance to visit the Pink Cake Box facility for sampling, I trusted that the cake would accurately represent what Allison and I discussed visually, and that the cake would be pleasing to the palate. But, when I took my first bite of Christine’s cake, I was stupefied at how much better it tasted than I had expected. This was, hands down, the best, most moist and flavorful cake I had ever eaten.
If I ever need such a cake again, I will definitely turn to Anne and her talented crew.
Thanks again, Pink Cake Box, for helping me make the best of my beautiful wife’s 40th birthday!

Whimsical Wedding Shower Cake
Charlene reached out to us to help create a topsy turvy cake for Diana’s bridal shower in Short Hills, NJ. The top of the cake includes the soon to be husband and wife enjoying a delicious looking salad with a 6-pack and their calico cat. Charlene worked with us to ensure we worked in all the fine details of the couple down to the way Diana parts her hair.
The top tier of the cake is covered in celadon green fondant with another feline climbing up the cake. Pink coral flowers along with green grass decorate the base of the tier. The bottom tier is covered in light blue fondant with clouds and the golden gate bridge.

Couple enjoying picnic on top of cake
Charlene was kind enough to leave us this facebook comment on our fan page:
Thank you, Anne & Pink Cake Box crew, for a most creative and beautifully whimsical wedding shower cake!!! It not only looked fantastic, but every guest thought it was unbelievably delicious too!!! You are the best!
Flavors and fillings included chocolate with oreos and cream and chocolate buttercream, and pink velvet with vanilla, lemon and raspberry chambord buttercream.
