When we first met Molly and Carlton earlier in the year, we were struck by how much in love they were. They literally glowed with happiness as they shared their proposal story and upcoming wedding plans with us. They also mentioned their spirituality and deep love for God and that was clear to see as they exchanged their vows against the vibrant colorful stained glass backdrop inside the Stauffer Chapel at Pepperdine University.
After the intimate and emotional ceremony, we headed back on PCH and stopped at the Malibu Pier for some photos of the new Mr & Mrs. The weather was perfect and we caught the tail end of the magic hour which cast a beautiful golden light on the couple. They must have felt like movie stars since they had the attention of everyone on the pier. A waitress even asked if they really had a wedding that day because she thought we were photographing professional models.
The reception was held at Loews Hotel in Santa Monica. Molly and Carlton personalized just about every aspect of the celebration from table names featuring their favorite sport teams to a buffet with various food stations featuring their favorite dishes like prime rib, pasta and gourmet sliders (they even had a goodie station later with sweets and ice cream for cake topping). Dinner was followed by more heartfelt speeches and traditions and while the guests were grooving on the dance floor, Molly and Carlton shared a little quiet time with some romantic shots on the pool patio overlooking the Santa Monica Pier.

Pearlin and John had a gorgeous wedding overlooking Lake Oak Meadows in Temecula. The day was a blend of cultures paying tribute to the brides Indian heritage with an ‘East Meets West’ theme featuring a color scheme of rich deep reds, burgundy and gold and an abundance of traditional and exotic florals. And speaking of different backgrounds, one might also say the couple’s personality reflects that as well…John is the quiet and calm gentleman, while Pearlin is more outgoing and has the ’spicier’ personality of the two and as everyone could see on their big day, the clear bond they shared in common was their love for each other.
We’ve photographed at Oak Meadows before and were excited to come back since we knew it was such a beautiful venue with plenty of photo ops. We love it when couples trust our ideas and do what it takes to get ‘the shot’, even if it means sitting on the grass or among the garden in a beautiful, brand new white gown (after all, we have plenty of experience and tips on how to make sure our clients will stay clean & safe..lol). And Pearlin and John’s adventurous side and easygoing attitude certainly paid off with some stunning and unique shots.
The ceremony included a rose lei exchange (the leis were made by the brides mother) and afterward everyone strolled to the outdoor reception lawn, with large round lanterns hanging overhead and tables named for the couple’s fondness for Italy. They also treated their guests to a buffet featuring the couple’s favorite Indian dishes. Towards the end of the evening the bride changed into a beautiful Indian gown, and the couple mingled and danced the rest of the night away with their guests.

When we met Nicole & Brian over a year before their wedding, it was like chatting with friends. Nicole was super sweet and her and Brian excitedly shared their plans with us. We had a feeling the wedding day would be smooth sailing because of their easygoing fun attitudes and their enthusiasm for their wedding photography, so of course it was no surprise that the big day turned out to be about as perfect as one could get.
Westake Village Inn is such a gorgeous venue and was a beautiful backdrop for the wedding. A vibrant pink color scheme carried throughout the event from bright florals and bridesmaids dresses to Brian’s pink and black polka dot tie.
Nicole was such a radiant bride…beaming as she walked up the aisle and Brian was all smiles at the sight of her. After the ceremony and photo sessions, the new Mr. & Mrs. were announced at the reception which was kicked off with touching and funny speeches and even a brief musical performance by Nicole’s father. Earlier in the day we noticed the chic hotel lobby and knew it would make the perfect ending for their wedding album so after more traditions and dinner, we snuck the couple away for one last mini photo session and captured a lil ‘magic’ with the video light

We photographed Melanie and Preston’s wedding at a beautiful private residence in Newport. They contacted us a few months before their wedding on the recommendation of her good friend and one of our former brides, Lisa, and luckily we were available. Since they live in Vegas we weren’t able to meet them in person until they flew out to L.A. for their engagement shoot. From the minute we met them we could see these two were definitely made for each other…they were quirky, fun and had no inhibitions so we thought we might be in for some interesting surprises on the wedding day.
The couple incorporated a lot of personal touches for their day, including Melanie’s wedding dress which was made by her mother in law. And speaking of surprises, as the ceremony started we heard the song “It Takes Two To Make a Thing Go Round” begin to blare and the entire wedding party and ultimately the bride and groom danced up to the altar…which was a blast and made for some great pix. After dinner Preston performed an original song for the guests and then the couple disappeared. Everyone wondered where they went, and we soon got our answer. They reappeared wearing some cool funky outfits (see below) topped off with their ‘Just Married’ shirts and they started doing what they do best…groovin’.
The night was capped off with a bubble exit and the couple taking off in Melanie’s dad’s vintage Corvette. We couldn’t let some unique photo ops drive away so we pulled over a few blocks away and ended the evening with some romantic portraits. Check out some of our favorite pictures below and catch the day’s events in their SLIDESHOW.
