Hurricane Shmurricane: The Reception
Newport, RI – The reception started at noon, which was a refreshing change from the late night Summer weddings we are used to working. The bright afternoon sun really illuminated the entirety of the ballroom, which was a wedding photographer’s dream. And although a handful of guests could not attend the Monday wedding, the rest of the crowd was in good spirits and had a good time laughing off the whole hurricane experience. So, after many tense moments staring at weather reports, evacuation routes and emergency notices, Mike and Kayleigh had a fantastic coastal New England Wedding at the Ocean Cliff Hotel. But this is not the last you will see of this beautiful couple, as we also scheduled a Rock The Dress session with them and guess what…? Yup, it rained… but we did manage to get in a mini-session at the Crane Beach, which will up on the blog very soon.

Hurricane Shmurricane
Newport, RI – On their scheduled wedding day Mike and Kayleigh watched the rain and wind from Hurricane Irene knock the power out in Newport essentially canceling their event. Luckily, The Ocean Cliff Hotel was able to put on the wedding the very next morning, which of course was a beautiful, cloud free day. The entire weekend was wrought with weather predictions, which of course just makes the speculations worse. It was pretty stressful for everyone involved, but in the end the Monday morning wedding went off without a hitch.
For us, we had to scramble around some travel plans to be able to make the wedding. But it was really important for both of us to be there for Mike and Kayleigh and I know they appreciated it. Here are some from the beginning of the day, with more to come later on.

Lowell, MA – Here is an engagement session from this past Summer. Lowell, MA natives Anne and Tieu wanted an engagement session in our fair city so we started at Boarding House Park and walked around the Boot Mills Museum and the River Walk. That’s a nice little loop for an engagement session and by the end their little doggies were pretty tired too. It was kind of a muggy, cloudy afternoon but we had fun and made some nice images of them and their fur kids. Anne and Tieu were married a couple months later and we are very excited to share those images as well, so stay tuned.

Starting Off with a Bang!
Westford, MA – Fireworks have been a quintessential metaphor for love and passion since I can remember, so having a display at a wedding is a perfect surprise treat for your guests. Ed and Elena did just this at their wedding reception, which just happened to be the debut wedding at Butterbrook Golf Club in Westford, MA. A beautiful, family owned golf course, Butterbrook has just opened their venue for weddings and receptions and their first one went off without a hitch. The fireworks show, which was probably about 10 minutes long, was certainly impressive and added another dimension of fun to the reception. It was a great way to end a really fantastic Summer wedding.
Beyond the dramatic ender and after looking over these images, Ed and Elena had some amazing light throughout the day. Their ceremony took place at St. Irene’s Catholic Church in quiet, Carlisle, MA. On this sunny and bright day, this church glowed with beautiful, natural light for this wedding ceremony. Photographers often talk passionately about light, and this wedding day was an absolute pleasure to shoot.
