Unsure of what type of bouquet to order? Here's a basic guide for planning your bouquet.*
Your style of bouquet will be influenced by the design of your dress, your figure and even your height.
A tear drop or small cascade bouquet ( shown below) is best for fuller figure, tradtional dress shapes, A-line shirts that flare from the waist and detailed dresses. A larger cacade, also known as a shower bouquet, with long, flowing flowers and greens looks best on a taller and fuller figue bride, one whose gown is full -skirted and dresses with a train.
A hand tied bouquet is best for medium heights and builds, bias-cut dresses and an understated, modern look.
A trailing or larger cascade bouquet is best for tall figues, as they help to draw the eye downwards, A-line, ballerina or princess skirts, long, flowing trains.
An over the arm bouquet is best for slim figures, outfits with lots of detailing, long, slinky dress styles.
A round, wired posy bouquet is best for petite figures, full or bias cut dresses, simple and straight designs.
These are only guidelines..if you have your heart set on a particular style, just be sure that the florist takes into account your overall height and build. You can carry any style bouquet as long as the proportion is correct.
A bouquet that is petite would look out of place or get "lost" when held by a bride or bridesmaid who is tall or who has a large stature. By the same token, a small framed bride/ bridesmaid would look overwhelmed if carrying a large, flowing bouquet. Porportion is important to the overall look.

I just participated in a bridal show here in Melbourne, Fl and the excitement for my new bouquets was wonderful.
Here is just one of them....containing a new rose and color called "sunset", a brilliant bicolor orange rose mixed with purple hydrangea. This bouquet would be perfect with purple, burnt orange, lilac, lavender and melon color scheme.

Here is my storyboard to give you an idea of the perfect color scheme:

This bouquet would be perfect for the bride as is and for the bridesmaids in a smaller version; or the bride can have a white background with the purple and bicolor orange "sunset" roses mixed in between as in the upper left hand corner of the storyboard. The bouquet could also be changed to a cascade which would be stunning for the bride and the bridesmaids could carry the round version. The color scheme is carried over to the centerpieces as in the wreath centerpiece in the upper right hand corner of the storyboard. Another centerpiece could be just two long stem "sunset" roses with a tuff of purple hydrangea and tall white branches in a tower vase. A crystal beaded garland intertwined between the branches would be outstanding. See my next post for a sample.
I also have another brilliant colored rose called "chartreuse" which I will present in my next post.
Have fun planning your wedding.

I am so excited about a new item that has been added to my inventory. I now have long stem preserved roses with natural leaves that have the look and feel of fresh roses. Of course, the benefit of these gorgeous long stem preserved roses is that they won't wilt or die like fresh roses.
They come in two sizes...standard which are approximately 2-2 1/2" in diameter and premium which are approximately 3" in diameter in red, white, cream and yellow colors.
They are packed beautifully in plastic tubes to protect them from damage during shipping.

These long stem roses are gorgeous just as they are, placed in a vase or tied together for DIY bouquets. You can cut the stems if you desire and tie a dozen or so together with a beautiful statin ribbon for added luxury.
These roses are sold by the case only; 20/case for standard and 12/case for premium.

Enjoy!

One of my friends asked me to make a corsage for her son to give to his date for the prom. He wanted something to go with her black dress, possibly white and black but left the design up to me. I decided that red would really make the corsage pop especially when coupled with the beautiful black beaded wrist corsage bracelet. The corsage consisted of a preserved red rose, cream preserved carnations and hydrangea, accented with red crystal sprays, black and silver ribbon, 2 black feathers jutting off from the end of the corsage and the black beaded bracelet.
My friend's son said that his date was so happy with her corsage; she never saw anything like it and it was a hit at the prom with the other girls.

I was happy to hear that the corsage was such a success. My client satisfaction is always my goal.

WHY CHOOSE PRESERVED FLOWERS FOR YOUR WEDDING?
There are many choices today when if comes to choosing flowers for your wedding...fresh, silk, dried and preserved. Fresh flowers are beautiful but fragile, prone to breakage, wilting and dying. Fresh flowers are delivered the day of the wedding and if they are not to your liking, it is usually too late to do anything about them. You have to go ahead and use the flowers even if they happen to be second rate. Silk flowers avoid those pitfalls but don't look fresh and can look lifeless and dull if used solely in a bouquet or arrangement, although some new silks look more real today. I use silk stephanotis or at times sunflowers if the bride requests those flowers, but on a limited basis. Dried flowers are brittle and don't hold up well; usually the colors are faded and not lively. Preserved flowers, on the other hand, look and feel like fresh because they are real flowers that have been specially treated to last a long time. They won't wilt or die on your special day, have vibrant colors to go with any color scheme AND you can have them delivered in advance of the wedding to assure that there are no surprises on your wedding day. Using preserved flowers for centerpieces eliminates the need for water and keeping the arrangements hydrated to avoid them deteriorating throughout the event. Also, centerpieces made with preserved flowers make great gifts for the guests after the event. Pricing for preserved flower bouquets can sometimes be more expensive than fresh but oftentimes a florist who specializes in preserved flowers can find ways to meet your budget. Choosing a bouquet made with preserved flowers offers other bonuses. There is the advantage of saving additional costs that would be incurred if you wish to have your bouquet preserved after the wedding. You have your heirloom to keep the day of your wedding...your bouquet is already preserved. For those brides who are getting married near Valentine's day, red roses are more expensive and difficult to get. Using preserved flowers avoids that problem because red roses are available all the year around. Preserved flowers do not retain their scents except for some foliage as pine, cedar, eucalyptus, rosemary and some others. You can add a drop of essential rose oil or other scents to the backs of the bouquets or ribbon in the arrangement if you want to have scented flowers. Preserved flowers should not get wet as some of the dyes in the flowers can let out. Still, preserved flowers offer greater advantages over fresh, silk or dried flowers for bouquets.
