Rich Barry is a guitarist in demand with a dynamic career as a dedicated chamber musician, concerto soloist, freelance artist, and solo recitalist. Rich Barry has been hailed as an international guitarist of the twenty-first century with his interpretations of both standard and modern repertoire. Performances of Rich Barry include over five hundred halls and venues in the United States and abroad including Andrew Mellon Auditorium, Vizcaya Museum, Salle Francoys-Bernier Hall, Constitution Hall, The Gold Room and Kennedy Caucus Room on Capitol Hill, Harvard University and the New York Stock Exchange. As a solo guitarist and chamber musician Rich Barry has performed throughout the Americas and Europe with recent performances in London, Toronto, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington DC, and Paris. Notable collaborators with Rich Barry include American guitarist Benjamin Beirs, Polish violinist Katarzyna Bryla, and pianist Ben Kim. Rich Barry has also performed with several musicians from the Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, The Ravinia Festival, The New York Philharmonic, EMI, and the Sony Music Artists Corporation.
Notable corporations that have contracted Rich Barry include General Electric, Time Warner, Business Insider, Goldman Sachs, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Amex Centurion and The People’s Choice Awards. Web projects include collaboration with EMI composer Zade Dirani of Jordan under the support of King Abdullah II. Rich Barry has recorded for several independent film and studio projects and has also given public performances of works by composers Giorgio Tortora, Ralf Bauer-Mörkens, Jeffrey Hoover, arranger Gregg Nestor and poet Chichi John.
Rich started playing the guitar at the age of four, and by nine gave his first public performance. By the age of twelve he had already studied with twelve university level instructors, won several competitions and began studying with Dr. Pablo Cohen, the professor of guitar at Ithaca College and Cornell University. At 18 he entered the Peabody Conservatory of Music where he received the prestigious Rose and Leon J. Neiburg Scholarship and during graduate school received a full scholarship assistantship.
