The Golden Light... 2009-08-21

The golden light or the golden hour is a reference to when the sun is low and it is a great time to be taking photos. The light is not harsh around these times and the light is warm. The question is how do you know when the golden our is going to be? Well normally it is one hour before and after sunrise and sunset. But to make it even easier, now there is a website with a golden hour caculatior. Check out this link... (more...)

Tammi and Greg Engagement.... Tampa 2009-09-09

First, I have to say I really loved Tampa. This was a first time in Tampa and it really is great. Both Tracey and I enjoyed looking around near the bay. The houses along the road that looks over the bay were just beautiful. Then we went to the beach for the rehearsal dinner and it was even better. We had fun walking along the beach taking photos of our bride and groom that were getting married the next day. We were getting some photos for the engagement signature frame. Here are just a few of the photos we took that night at the rehearsal and dinner. Next... photos of the wedding. (more...)

Canon Has a New Camera - 7D 2009-09-09

Looks like Canon is coming out with not just a new camera, but something in a different line than they have had. I am thinking they are going after Nikon's D300. We will have to wait to see what it is really like, but the specs look great... might be in my bag by the end of the year. (If Tracey lets me have one.)

Pigeon Forge Photo Weekend 2009-09-17

Last weekend we took a trip with a group of photos to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Really we were more in the Smokey Mountain National Park. Beautiful water falls, bears, flowers and photographers, what more could you want. Our first day we headed to Cades Cove. This is an area that you can drive though and see how people use to live in that area. There are old log cabins, barns and churches and a lot of history and beauty. We were lucky enough to see a momma bear and her 3 baby cubs up a tree. Tons of people under them trying to get photos, but the bears just laid up there and slept. We also had a few models along to try out some natural light portraits, I think they were tired of smiling by the end of the day. The next day we were off to Roaring Fork Rd. Motor Trail. It is right next to Gatlinburg and has some wonderful sites on it as well as trials to different water falls. We took such a trial to Grotto Falls. The trail is considered moderate and is 1.3 miles long one way. I thought they were going to loose me on this one. As many of you know, I am not what you would call "in shape" unless that shape is a pear. After huffing and puffing we came to a sign that said " 1.1 miles to Grotto Falls". We had only gone .2 miles. But I kept going hoping I would not die along the trail someplace. It was well worth it. Grotto Falls is not large, but it is stunning. We went to another waterfall after that one, but even though it was much taller, Grotto Falls was still our favorite. After that a night in the hot tub with a cold beer was just what we needed. Monday found us packing again to head home. We really enjoy our weekend away and look forward to our next photo weekend. Please feel free to view our photos.
