Wedding Veils | The Do's + Don'ts 2010-04-08

Once the question has been asked, "Will you marry me?" and answered "Yes!", the rush is on to find the perfect wedding gown.  Brides scour bridal magazines, websites, and visit a plethora of bridal salons to find the perfect dress.  Then comes the quest for shoes, earrings, shawl . . . and of course, the veil.

Most brides don't think their wedding look is complete without a veil.  If you are opting for a veil, be sure you are prepared for how to properly wear it on your wedding day.  Not knowing how to wear it is not the added stress you need just before walking down the aisle to see the man of your dreams!
  1. Inquire with the person selling you the veil as to the best way it should be worn.  Don't just walk out of the store!
  2. Have them show you how it should be worn, and use your camera or cell phone's video camera to capture the correct way.
  3. If you are waiting to put the veil on until just before the wedding or pre-ceremony photos, be sure to have your hairdresser show your mom, MOH, etc. how it should be put in your hair.
TheKnot.com has a wonderful (and quick) video of the Do's and Don'ts of wearing a veil!

Tonight | Glee with Kristin Chenoweth + Mike O'Malley 2010-04-27

Okay, so I know this blog is not wedding related, but is is full of Glee!  Last week's Madonna salute was flashy, but tonight's "Home" episode is more emotionally telling and better sung.  It's my early favorite for an Emmy nod.

Story #1 | Kristin Chenoweth  The Facts!Oh how I wish that I could have seen her in Wicked!  She is fab-u-lous tonight providing a terrific version of Home and a lovely duet with Matthew Morrison on A House Is Not a Home.

Story #2 | Mike O'Malley
I've loved this guy's quick wit ever since he starred in 28 Days with Sandra Bullock.  Mike plays Burt, father of Kurt (you cannot make this up).  This story line provides a real emotional punch.

Story #3 | Cast Member - Amber Riley as Mercedes

A well-done body-issue plot gives Mercedes a chance to shine, and she runs with it.
DYK:  Amber was rejected to be a part of American Idol.  Yes, she auditioned when she was 17 and the producers told her “No.”  Amber says that she didn’t even meet Simon, Randy or Paula, but she’s thrilled to be working on FOX and making money!

Darrin Receives Directors Award 2010-04-29

This Just In . . . Please join me in congratulating Darrin as he recently received an award earlier this month for the work he has done for his new employer.  While he really enjoys what he does, it is equally satisfying to realize that his work is impacting the company in extraordinary ways even during early service with the company.  As some of you may know, he joined Mission Solutions Engineering (MSE) in Moorestown, NJ in September of 2009.

This award was presented to Darrin by the President of MSE during an "All Hands Meeting" attended by all associates.  They even had a huge photo of him appearing in a rotating slide show of other award winners.

Since the photo is a little hard to read, below you find the text appearing on the award.

The Art behind Google's Doodles 2010-05-02

It is the simple things in life that make me smile or laugh really hard.  And sometimes the simple things are worth a closer look.  So what exactly am I talking about?  . . . The Google Doodle, of course!

That's why I was so stoked last Sunday evening when I turned on 60 minutes to find John Blackstone taking a closer look at these marvelous illustrations that bring a smile to my face or educate me in one way or another.   I've included the segment below which begins after one short commercial.  Press the arrow in the lower left hand corner to begin.

We all know that the illustrations on Google's home page mark things like holidays, famous birthdays, notable discoveries and inventions.  If you happened to visit Google on April 24, 1010, you saw a doodle celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the launch of the Hubble space telescope.

America . . . and Beyond
Michael Lopez who created the doodle above leads team of four artists whose work is seen on Google's American website and on Google home pages for more than 100 countries around the world.  For example, here's a doodle which appeared on Google's UK website on April 23, 2010 in honor of St. George's Day and Shakespeare's Day.

How It All Begin?
With 20+ years in marketing (yup - I was 10 years old when I started my illustrious career!), I learned early on that the first rule was to keep the company identity alone, especially the company logo.  But when did Google ever follow conventional wisdom?  The first doodle was produced by Larry and Sergey, who, when they attended the Burning Man festival in August 30, 1998 in case the site crashed and someone wanted to know why nobody was answering the phone!  I just love that they went to Burning Man.  Here is the very first Google Doodle.

DYK?
Over 300 Google Doodles have appeared on Google.com in America and over 700 internationally?
One of my all-time favorite Google Doodles celebrated Vincent van Gogh’s birthday.
