Children’s Calendar for March of Dimes 2011-11-03

Many thanks to all the parents, grandparents and friends and family that have helped to make the 2012 March of Dimes Children’s Calendar a success. The calendar has images of 12 children taken by Sarah Lynn Seaton (moi!) Lots of help from my assistant Melissa Wilke with outstanding child wrangling and retouching skills. Graphic design by Karen Dockery and printing by Print Edge. We should have copies in our hands by the end of next week. The best March of Dimes calendar 2011-07-07

All voting will stop  Tuesday JULY 12th 11pm.  Visit http://seatonshoots.org If you choose to wait to the last minute to vote, please make sure to give yourself enough time to complete the credit card processing part of the voting to ensure that your vote counts. The payment is made thru paypal so make sure to register for paypal before the last day.

Thursday July 7th, 2011 3pm- Angel #1 has won the weekly votes with an additional 151 votes. Her mom will have lunch at the Silver Spoon, dessert from Mapgpies Bakery and a movie at a Regal Theatre. We are  in the final stretch with only 5 more days to go. The top winners will not only be in the calendar but first, second and third places will receive the below prizes. First place will receive a weekend for 2 in the downtown Knoxville Hilton, breakfast included, Regal Cinema movie tickets and a gift certificate for dinner (location to be announced soon).The runner up will receive a complimentary studio session with Sarah Lynn Seaton, an 16×20 canvas, lunch at McAlisters deli for 2 and and a dozen mini cupcakes from Magpies Third place will receive a complimentary studio session with Sarah Lynn Seaton, and a 11×14 canvas. Each sponsorship is $500 each and is entirely tax deductible. You will receive 50 calendars and a business card sized space on the back of the calendar. We have made the decision to leave the site as is. There is a glitch with PayPal not talking with our site. Most of the voting will go thru the system but some votes are missed due to a programmer error with Paypal. (All orders go thru Paypal, they just might not appear on the leader board, or reflect in the total votes for each child.) Rather than spending more money on this issue (with web programming) we will be counting all the votes manually every night until the voting ends (and double-checking for accuracy). What’s going on with Knoxville children’s photographers 2011-02-03

We are kicking off our second annual calendar fundraiser for the East Tennessee Chapter of the March of Dimes. Last year we raised over $7500 for the March of Dimes. HERE ARE THE BASICS: These are Limited Sessions. The Angels sessions are available Feb 4-5, March 4-5 and April 8-9. Your $100 session fee/contest entry fee benefits the March of Dimes. The sessions are on Friday and Saturdays. If you are a stay at home or part-time mom please choose a Friday session. I am also looking for one stay-at-home mom who is pretty out going and would like to earn $400 of portrait credit. If interested please email me: Email Lynn about MOD. We are also have big plans this year for our JUST KIDS Line. We launched JUST KIDS in December of 2010 and it was amazing. These sessions are on limited days only and have special pricing. Last year we filled up the holiday sessions with two weeks notice on facebook. Trevor Bayne-Best Man at Crescent Bend Wedding 2011-02-22

Two years ago Trevor Bayne was chosen to be the best man in his uncle’s big day, his Knoxville wedding at Crescent Bend historic home. This weekend fate appeared to choose Trevor to win the Daytona 500, shocking the NASCAR world, and himself. I imagine those around him, who know him well, while ecstatic, are perhaps not too shocked.

Sunday night we were watching the Knoxville local news and Lynn recognised a name.  While our family is not particular fans of NASCAR, there was a lot of buzz about a local boy having won the big race, out of the blue. Names and faces are not one of my strengths, but some details do manage to stick, and I remembered a nephew who was pursuing a dream in car racing was enough for me to know it had to be him. Going back through the wedding photographs to see if I had many, any,  I had forgotten that Trevor was the best man in Anthony and Jenn’s wedding. At age 17, he was best man. Clearly someone ahead of his years. What also shows through in the weddings photographs, is what has everyone excited about locally. This is “a good kid” who knows how to have fun and ham it up, and also when to switch it off.  Reading the local press, since age five Trevor has lived, breathed and dreamt car racing, making some tough decisions and sacrifiices at an early age, with some amazing family support. He has also grown up with a couple of cameras and microphones not too far away, perhaps explaining the ease and comfort he displayed around the media frenzy for his”overnight success”.  A more deserving Best Man it would be hard to find.

Photographer studio programs top 15 2011-03-01

While this post has little to do with weddings some clients do ask,”What am I paying for?” As our client you are paying for your artwork- whether it be a custom designed heirloom album or a framed wall portrait and our time and talents. But also to create your work takes equipment and software. Sara Tennessee asked yesterday, “Mommie, you went to art school why don’t you do art all day?” Good question dear. What I do do all day is use loads of computer programs. This is what it takes to create in 2011. We have between studio and home 10 mac computer stations. Course several of these are over 10 years old!! Crazy! Our staff all does different things so each of us uses different programs during the day. Mel and Barry are on Lightroom and Photoshop most of the day. We all edit in Iview media. Since I come from the old print world I still use Quark. Debbie and I and also use Successware for running the studio.  (thanks to Judy Grann and team!!) I am a font junkie so Suitcase is loaded on my system. Iworks and word on all the machines. So I guess the ranking is a follows.
