ATTENTION CHICAGO! Looking for a unique new wedding registry?
If so, definitely check out the new Foodie Registry!
The Foodie Registry was started by newlyweds Ben & Jennifer Reid, after a frustrating registry process for their own July 2008 wedding. They wanted to avoid registering for things they already had or didn’t need, but the requests for a registry kept coming in. As an alternative, they made a list of restaurants they would like gift certificates to and nervously sent that out to their guests instead. They ended up receiving many of the certificates they asked for, providing them with “date nights” for months to come! As a result, the Foodie Registry was born!
The registry is simple – just visit their website to sign up. You create the registry & fill out a brief profile, add the restaurants you’d like gift certificates to, and then spread the word!
After hearing about the Foodie Registry, we decided to attend their launch party last Sunday at Catalyst Ranch. We actually attended this event just for fun, and to start up a Foodie Registry for our own upcoming wedding.
The party featured cuisine from some of the participating restaurants, including: MK, One Sixty Blue, BOKA, Cuatro, Cuna, Landmark, LM, NAHA, N9NE Steakhouse, Perennial, Salud Tequila Lounge, Sunda, and The Drawing Room. We were able to text message a code at each station to add that restaurant to our own registry, which was very cool.
In addition to the restaurants, our friends {and wedding videographer} Ben Mahoney of Ben Mahoney Productions , Stephanie Mueller of Hair that Rocks, My Mojuba, and Scott & Cara from Carasco Photography were all on hand to showcase their services for engaged couples.
In addition to sampling some amazing food, we also enjoyed cocktails by Hum creator and master mixologist Adam Seger and we got to see our favorite wedding DJ, Mary Nisi {Toast & Jam DJs} in action!
We had a wonderful time meeting Ben + the Foodie Registry crew and it was great seeing so many of our favorite Chicago wedding vendors! Definitely a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon after an event packed weekend.

We’ve had a busy wedding season and are gearing up for a VERY busy December here in Chicago. The holiday season is upon us, which means everyone is throwing holiday parties around the city. While October was the height of wedding season and we were booked with weddings every weekend, we also were busy participating in numerous vendor, networking, and charity events last month as well.
We had the pleasure of working with some of our favorite local vendors on the “8 til 8″ event, organized by our friends at Carasco Photography & the Foodie Registry. The event was an open house for event planners and select vendors and gave us all a chance to mingle and network together. We brought our photobooth down to the Underground Nightclub in Chicago and everyone had a great time posing for photos throughout the night! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shutterbooth was proud to partner with Bright Pink and provide a photobooth for their “Power of Pink” fundraiser at the Hard Rock Hotel last month. The event was a private cocktail reception and was hosted by some of Chicago’s boldest & brightest, including our friend Jessica Zweig from Cheeky and Kelli Zink from celebtv.com. Attendees enjoyed snapping photos in the photobooth throughout the event, while sipping on Grey Goose cocktails and Coors Light Beers.
