Liz & Dave's Engagement Session {Point Mugu & Westlake Village} 2012-05-24

This was a very fun session! I've known Liz & Dave for years and I'm more than honored to photograph for them. Dave is one of my fraternity brothers from Sigma Phi Epsilon at Calif. State Univ., Northridge and Liz has always been a big supporter of our chapter. They're both very fun loving people and huge sports fans!

Our session was originally supposed to start at the football field at Westlake High school, where Dave's father coaches one of the football teams, but we couldn't find the gate that was supposed to open for us. This actually worked in our favor since it was ridiculously hot and extremely sunny when we first arrived at the field. We decide to start with what was to be our second location, the beach at Point Mugu State Park. When we got to the beach Dave was telling me how they love to come to this beach since it isn't well known and and they can watch the waves crash into the rocks at the shoreline.

This was my first time at the any beach since my honeymoon in Hawaii, so it was a little bittersweet, but photographing Dave & Liz interacting and enjoying the environment was great, despite the wind that was blowing Liz's hair everywhere.

When we got back to the field in Westlake the lighting was perfect, thanks in part to the solar eclipse that was occurring.  I photographed Liz and Dave just playing around on the field and ended with them under the score board, with the setting sun behind them.

Congratulations Liz & Dave!  I can't wait for the wedding!  (P.S.  My invitation arrived today!)

Aaron & Erika {University Club of Pasadena, Noor - Pasadena} 2012-04-03

This will be the first of two posts. I'm heading off to my own wedding in a couple hours, but I promised Aaron & Erika a preview and I plan to deliver. This is just a small taste and I'll post more later on.

Aaron & Erika are a great couple, very fun and goofy (and I always mean goofy as a compliment). Since they were married on April Fools Day, they decided to have a little fun and hired two little people to be their ushers. These guys were great and even photographed with us in Christensen Alley in Old Town.

More coming soon! Congratulations Aaron & Erika!

Sean & Sally's Wedding {Sportsmen's Lodge - Studio City} 2012-03-28

Photographing for Sean & Sally was a lot of fun! They're both very easy going and playful. I have a ton of photos of them making funny faces at the camera, there are a few below, but I may post another gallery of just those photos. Their wedding at Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City, Calif. was great. This was the second time I've photographed at Sportmen's Lodge, but my first wedding there. I've been to this location a number of times for various reasons and everyone wants to photograph with the grand staircase. I do my best not to say no to a client, but I don't like to photograph the same thing everyone else does. The photo below is my Sportsmen's Lodge staircase shot. I absolutely love this photo and the following photos that were shot in the hotel lobby. Believe it or not, these were shot at the end of the night, when they were exhausted, but we had to capture them.

Congratulations Sean & Sally!

Sally & Sean's Engagement Session - Pasadena, Ca. 2012-03-06

I loved photographing for Sean & Sally! They are very easy to work with and very fun. It's also great that I've known Sally since high school, her brother and I are good friends. I'm honored that she and Sean chose me to photograph for them.

Our session ending up spanning two days since we got rained on during our first session at the Huntington Library in San Marino. It all worked out, as we met another day to finish up in old town Pasadena.

Sally really wanted to get a shot with some scrabble tiles and the date of their wedding. Sadly, when we talked just before meeting to photograph and she had forgotten them. Target to the rescue! I stopped at Target on my way to the Huntington Library and picked up "Appleletters" which had a better color than Scrabble tiles, less expensive too! The photos we took we these came out great! We did some with their hands, with the tiles on a bench, and during their second session we spelled out their names against some brick. It worked out great!

Both areas where we photographed we fantastic! The Huntington Library has massive gardens and gave us a very natural feel to the photos. With Old Town Pasadena we brought in an urban element. There's a great alley way (Christansen Alley) with graffiti art on one side and old brick on the other. If you don't mind the dumpsters and dodging the occasional car it's a great place to photograph.

I can't wait to photograph for Sean and Sally at their wedding in a couple weeks!

Flush Mount Album - Acrylic Cover 2012-03-03

The acrylic cover option is a great way to add a photo to the cover of your album. This is the first one I've done and it is absolutly beautiful! This particular album was for a Bar Mitzvah and rather than using one of the event photos we used a photograph from Daniel's portrait session. This turned about to be a great way to tie the portrait session (which we used to create the sign-in book for the day) back in with the entire event.

The acrylic covers are offered as an upgrade from the standard leather and come in the clear acrylic, shown here, as well as two textured versions.
