I’m frequently asked “What is a Rock the Dress session?” Basically, it’s a chance to rock the dress! Before the wedding, you’re usually so worried about getting the dress dirty that you want to be extra cautious during the bridal session, and understandably so. But then you’re kind of limited to what you can do in the dress. And after buying the most amazing dress of your life, you’re going to want to make sure to get as many photos of you in it as you can! So the Rock the Dress session is a chance for you to take some more pictures of The Dress – pick a fun location, let down your hair, leave the veil at home, skip the flowers, do something a little different – you get the idea!
Since Kimberly’s bridal portraits were pretty traditional, McKinney provided a fun and different location for her Rock the Dress session. We spent some time at the gorgeous Grand Hotel downtown (seriously, that place is very cool, and would be a fabulous location for a reception venue!) and then ventured outside to get a few around the square. Carlos joined in for a few photos, so it was partly a Day After session as well. These guys are some of the sweetest people I have ever met, so I was thrilled to have the chance to spend more time with them!

I always love it when we get to incorporate a location with special meaning in portrait sessions; we took Eric’s senior portraits in the beautiful backyard of the house he’s lived in since he was a kid. We also got to incorporate his grandfather’s ‘73 Plymouth, which was a lot of fun. His brother and 2 sisters even joined in for a few photos.

I just realized that in all the craziness of the last few months, I never posted Kimberly’s bridal session! We did her portraits at the beautiful Dallas Baptist University and had a perfect day.

Miranda decided it would be a great idea to give her parents the gift of family photos as a Christmas gift – which I think has definitely got to be one of the best Christmas presents ever! They told me that they hadn’t done family pictures since Miranda was a baby, so it was definitely time. Miranda just got her letter jacket, so we did a few senior portraits as well. We went to Addison Circle, and even though it was pretty dang cold, it was still a nice morning and we had a lot of fun!
