Wedding of the Week: Emily & Jon 2012-02-08
Sometimes all you need for the perfect wedding is a gorgeous view and an adorable couple. Emily and Jon spontaneously decided to marry in Las Vegas on the lucky day of 11/11/11 among the bright lights of the Vegas Strip on a balcony at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Before the ceremony, the two explored the landmark resort and got some amazing pictures from around the property. I love the contrast between the bride’s white jumpsuit against the weathered exterior of the property. As the sun set on Sin City, Emily and Jon said I Do on a rose petal terrace and just like the ending to a fairy tale – they lived happily ever after.

Inspiration: I am inspired by my family, fashion, and lots of other awesome photographers. I typically do not meet my bride and groom before a wedding since most people travel to Vegas to get married. So, I am typically inspired by my couple and the location the day of the wedding. However, I do like to go and visit new venues before a wedding so I can find some locations I love beforehand.
Memorable moment: This was one of my most favorite weddings. I felt like the couple and I were perfect for each other. When I saw them the first time and their awesome clothes, I was immediately excited. I love to find more non-traditional locations to take photos; I like the contrast between the beauty and love of the couple, with a more urban/dirty kind of background. I asked them if they wanted to go in the back of the MGM Grand to get some industrial type backgrounds and they were super excited and said that they actual love industrial shots and live in an old ketchup factory. It always makes me so happy when my couples get my ideas and love them just as much as I do. This couple was so much fun and we had such a great time. I came back a little later in the day, for the actual ceremony which took place on the balcony of their suite at the MGM and it had the most amazing view ever. The ceremony made me cry because I love seeing two people truly madly in love, and that was definitely Emily & Jon.
Style: I have always been into the alternative lifestyle of rock music and tattoos etc. I love to find beauty in things that some people might overlook. This leads me towards clients that are kind of similar to me and don’t want the traditional photos in traditional locations.
