I am happy to say that the
owl themed baby shower I hosted this past weekend was a blast. There was tons of food, great company, and lots of laughs.
We asked all the guests to leave a piece or two of baby advice for the mommy to be:
Advice cards ordered through Vistaprint
We hung up a clothesline with baby gear (one personalized owl onesie coming right up):

Owl bib found at Target, Owl iron-on transfer found at Joann Fabrics
The food-YUM:
As if babies aren't sweet enough, we set up a candy buffet:
Owl mask found at Joann Fabric
The dessert table with mini cheesecakes, mini cupcakes, and a big fat diaper cake adorned with little bows for the baby's hair:
Some pink drinks:
The winners of the games each won a set of handmade owl coasters similar to
the ones found here. I wish I would've taken a picture because they were so adorable.
Owl goody bags purchased from Borders Books
Now the only thing left to do is wait for that little baby to get here. What's your favorite thing about baby showers? Mine has to be the cheesy games!

Aren't these napkin flowers from

Baby shower themes. Sometimes they make me nauseous. Other times they make me happy. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with the pastels and ducks, I am a much bigger fan of a more modern and trendy baby shower theme.
Owl themed baby showers have been hugely popular over the last year so I thought I would jump on board and use an owl theme for an upcoming baby shower. The mom-to-be is a bit of a modern mom-not too girly, not too frilly, not too cheesy.
So owls it is. Here is a sneak peak of the invitations, hand crafted with excitement and joy by yours truly! Fuzzy pictures taken by me as well.

I am notorious for opening a bottle of wine, having one glass, and then kicking myself later that week when I realize the rest of the bottle tastes a little bit off.
Well, a few weeks ago, I was craving a glass of wine and realized the only wine I had left in the house (hello, what was I thinking!) was a half full bottle of something I had opened earlier in the week. Darn. I wasn't really in the mood for wine that was bitter and tasted off so I had to think quick.
Enter: Sangria.
Club soda, sugar, oranges, and ice.
I made sangria with the leftover wine and you know what, it turned out great!
I did everything mostly to taste and it was stuff I already had in my fridge:
2 parts Red wine
1 part club soda
Few teaspoons of sugar
Lots of orange slices
Lots of ice
In no time at all, I was relaxing with a tall glass of sangria. You could even swap out the oranges for limes, lemons, or apple slices.
What do you guys do with wine that's a few days old?
