Everyone loves a good cup of coffee and a decadent dessert!
I recently went to an evening wedding where the bride and groom chose to serve coffee and dessert at there reception. This couple is not in to alcoholic beverages and did not want to spend a lot of money on something they didn't enjoy.
Upon arrival at the reception venue, we were greeted with a beautiful array of sumptious desserts to choose from. Two coffee bars were set up with various flavors of coffee and all the trimmings. ie flavored creams, sweeteners, sprinkles of nutmeg, cinnamon, & cocoa, and whipped cream. Hot water and various teas were also provided. A chocolate fountain with fresh fruit was also a big hit!
When the wedding party arrived, the music began and everyone had a great time dancing and visiting with friends and family.
If you choose this option, you can have your wedding later in the evening, say 7pm. Then include on your RSVP card, "Join us for coffee and dessert after the ceremony at..." That way, everyone knows to eat dinner prior to arriving at the wedding.
Kudos to the couple for honoring their beliefs and still having a fabulously creative and enjoyable evening for their wedding guests.

It used to be easy addressing envelopes! To Mr. & Mrs. So and So etc.
However, today there are lots of non-traditional couples which can make addressing the invitations a dilemma.
Here's a few suggestions on how to handle "Envelope Etiquette."
For an unmarried couple living together address the envelope using 4 lines.
Line 1 & 2: List their names in either order. Line 3 is street address and Line 4 is City, State and Zip.
For a married couple using different last names use 3-4 lines.
Line 1 & possibly 2: write their names with womans name first. Mrs. Sally Smith & Mr. John Doe If the 2 full names will not fit on one line, then you will use line 2 for the mans name. Line 3 & 4 are standard.
For a married couple in which the woman is a medical doctor.
Line 1 & possibly 2: Dr. Susan Jones & Mr. John Jones You may need to put the mans name on the second line if space is an issue. Line 3 & 4 are standard.
The boyfriend of one of your guests when the couple is not living together.
Send him a separate invitation to his address.
Military member and spouse.
Line 1 & possibly 2: Captain & Mrs. Jamison King or Sargeant Angela King & Mr. Jamison King you may need to list names on 2 lines if space is an issue. If the woman is the military member, her name should come first or on line 1. Line 3 & 4 is standard. If one is deployed, send to the permanent home address.

You simply arrange the jars or bowls (with scoops provided) for the guests to choose their favorite treat. Cute boxes or bags to put their choices in are a must! This will preclude over-endulgence.

I just got the coolest invite to an event. The invitation video was downloaded onto a zip drive that I could view on my computer. It was very original and got me excited for the event.
I am thinking this is a fabulous idea for the Save-The-Date or the Wedding invitation. You can make a creative video or slide show and zip it. You can include stories, wedding event details, bridal registry, wedding party bios, etc. It's amazing how much information you can get on a zip drive. This is a great way to get the guests involved emotionally in your wedding day before they even arrive. You can make a label to apply to the zip drive. So Cool! So unique! So modern!
Once the video is downloaded to the guest's computer, the zip drive can be used for other things.
