Finding a Wedding Officiant that works with you in celebrating your wedding 2008-09-08

Congratulations in planning your wedding. Have you begun the process of preparing and organizing your checklist? Maybe you have even hired a wedding planner. Good for you! You are on the right track.

Now what about the wedding officiant? Do you have someone in mind? Some couples consider the wedding officiant as an afterthought in planning their wedding. Don’t let that happen to you.

It is important to find someone who honors who you are as a couple and works with you in celebrating your wedding from start to finish. A good wedding officiant will work with the couple to create a ritual that best celebrates their unique and special love. Finding and working with a wedding official ahead of time, even at the early stages of the wedding planning, is a plus. That way, there will be no surprises and you can relax a little more that the person officiating your wedding will respect and honor your needs as a couple.

The value of a rehearsal just before your wedding 2008-09-09

You wedding is one of the most important moments in your life, the beginning of your life as a married couple. You want that ceremony to be beautiful celebration of your love, a ceremony that flows with no interruptions or surprises.

One of the ways to make sure the celebration happens the way you want is to have a rehearsal prior to the ceremony. It is also important to involve the wedding official during this rehearsal time. That way, you can answer any questions, understand and visualize the flow of the ceremony and cover any last minute details if necessary.

On the day of your wedding, all you have to do is enjoy the celebration and not worry about anything. Your wedding official will guide you through the ceremony honoring the way you truly envisioned your day to be.

Unity Candles and Battery-operated candles for your Wedding 2009-08-17

I officiated an indoor wedding a couple of weeks ago and the wedding party could not use real candles for the ceremony because it would be a violation of fire code in the place where their ceremony was held.  Sometimes this can put a damper on the special-ness of your wedding, but there are alternatives.

First, the wedding couple did get special permission to have a Unity Candle and light it during the ceremony only.  Some facilities will make exceptions to Unity Candles so it is good to check that out beforehand.

Second, if you are unable to have a Unity Candle, a Sand Ceremony Vase Set is a good alternative.  It is a similar concept to the Unity Candle but uses sand for the symbol instead of a candle.

Third, battery-operated tea lights are an option for creating a soft environment for your wedding and  reception.  I have seen them used during a wedding and they look amazingly real. Plus they are safe and easy to use.

I just discovered Ping.fm that updates multiple social network sites. Curious as to how this works.
