A lock-in.
Two shy people.
One corner.
That is how we met.
Neither of us were very outgoing, but we found ourselves sitting next to each other on the edge of the crowd. There was an uncanny feeling between us that we had met before...even though we know that we hadn't. We had a lot in common and we passed the hours of the night getting to know each other.
But then the lock-in was over and we didn't know if we would see the other again. Until one year later when we found each other again at a church talent show! It was so good to see the other again! But again, once the evening ended we didn't know when our next meeting would be.
The next year there were no church events to meet up at. However, at the regional Science Olympiad competition at SUNY Brockport, we met up again for the third unplanned time! By this point we saw something special in the other, and realized that there was something ExtraOrdinary about the way we kept finding each other.
The year following, at the second Science Olympiad meet, we finally exchanged e-mail addresses! For months to come we kept in contact through this means, sending messages to the other on a bi-weekly basis. A few more chance meetings occured, and we spent a Physics Day field trip to Darien Lake together. Zachary even waited in line for 2 hours with Elizabeth to go on the SuperMan rollercoaster...when he was deathly petrified of heights!
That summer Zachary graduated from high school, and as he begain his first years at Finger Lakes Community College we maintained our close correspondance. We began to invite the other over for family events, to the point where we bagan seeing each other once a week! Soon we began making a point to hang out together once a week, beginning one Saturday in May with a trip to a miniature golf course!
These times together were full of adventures and excitement! We were chased by turkeys through the woods, kayaked through rain, and explored nearly a dozen parks.
Zachary came up to visit Elizabeth the first weekend she spent at Buffalo State College that year... a mere hour and a half from his college in Finger Lakes. "What are the odds that we can keep seeing each other once a week?" "Close to none unless you want to drive up here every weekend."
Zach drove up every weekend.
March 31st, 2007 ... We officially began dating!
